I've got a 98 Talon TSi AWD, but it used to have a 6-bolt in her. Now she's got a stock 2G back in her (before I bought it). I was driving her the other day, and revved her up into the 7k+ range... then I lost a huge amount of power... I was losing major boost, basically had none at all, and the car wanted to stall on me all the time... I also had some loud knocking... far louder than the normal lifter tick I hear now and again...
I limped the car home, less than 2 miles. When I got her home, I checked everything out, and the BOV had popped loose, it seems the fastener was loose, so I figured that would have explained my loss of boost and my stalling...
But there is still a loud knock when the engine revs over 2k. A buddy of mine said it sounded like a wrist pin had snapped... I am not really sure what's wrong with it, but the sound is like someone hitting the block with a heavy wrench... and it's in line with the RPMs, so the higher it revs the more frequent the knock..
I'm thinking it's trashed. Anyone have this issue? I am wondering if the BOV coming off was a coincidence or if it was the cause of the problem...
