I have bad CV joints on both sides on my Eclipse 2.0 GS 91 FWD. Really bad noises(clunking/clicking) when taking sharp turns :/ The boots are fine but the car has been standing still for eight years before I got it. Dont know what might have happend, it has only gone 75k miles. Do I replace the joints or the whole axles?

Just replace the joints but inspect the axles when you're down there. The axles should be fine though. If i was you i would put some new boots on with cv joints as well regardless if the old ones look ok. Cv joints just go bad over time. Nothing lasts forever especially on dsms i have noticed.

my opinion i would do whole axles better safe than sorry any time u replace something with new the older parts picks up a little more strain where there weaker if u put new cv joints in later on the splines might strip then u would have to do axels any ways but thats my thought on it

Its a lot more work to change just the joints. Price new axles and decide.
I agree with just change out the entire axle. Less of a headache
This and this.
If you price out just the joints and the whole axle you'll find it's a no brainer. I've seen instances where the joint is MORE than the whole axle, but even when it's cheaper, it's by a tiny amount and it's MUCH more of a hassle to replace just the joints. In the end, you have to ask yourself, is worth the extra hassle to save a VERY small amount?

Ok just as I thought then. Problem is whole axles are kinda hard to come by in Sweden or Europe for that matter. So it'll be quite more expensive to buy the axles but now I know I should consider it anyway.

Ok the consensus seems to be clear. Its about 60$ more to replace both axles compared to the joints, but that's what I'll do then :) Does anyone happens to know any good us dealers(that has axles) that ships worldwide?

only thing i know of is to check ebay some of them ship world wide may cost a little more for international shipping
