I've noticed an issue with my car lately. When I start it in the morning it idles up and down (not surging, more like up to 1500 for two seconds and then slowly dipping to 650, bogging and stalling). I also noticed that upon throttle tip in I would be very lean 19:1ish. Not only this but when I come up to stop lights my car will go lean (16-18:1) bog to 600-500 rpm and stall. I should note that this started happening all of a sudden. Last week it was running great. Only going slightly lean at tip in but not enough to bog.
For some reason today I figured perhaps my alt was on its way out so I logged it. I was hitting about 12.7-13.5 volts. My battery is about 3 years old so I figure it has about half life left. A few weeks ago I did have to disconnect my voltage regulator to access the heatshield bolts, and I stupidly forgot to reconnect it for about 250 miles D'OH! Did I fry my alternator? Motor has 75kish on it and it's probably the factory alt.
I've attached a log of my drive home today. I've also attached a log from a few months ago that I noticed has a much more stable and higher voltage reading.
I did increase global fuel today and that seemed to help the stalling and the lean tip in (perhaps alternator isn't pushing enough voltage to fuel pump causing it to go lean occasionally and the increase in global compensated for that).
I'm thinking this alt is fried. What are your guys' thoughts? During the attached log I did have a lot of my electronics on (wipers, defogger, heat, radio). Not sure if I should still be seeing that low of voltage
Here is the log from Oct showing much higher voltage
