Ok Ive read a few forums and stuff and it looks like me alternator is goin bad, because my battery and brake light on my dash stays on now. I also got it check and my battery is good it just needs recharged and my alternator is reading at 11.8 with a load on it. I was woundering what kind I should get I don't really want reman. one, but the oem one from Mitsubishi is 380$. What do you guys recommend? Also my car has been sputtering really bad after driver about 1 mile and the it won't stop. I was wondering since I have my coil on plug hooked up to my battery would the alternator cause that because it's not putting out enough power for it??

As far as the misfiring goes it is most likely due to low voltage. You can replace your alternator with any brand really. Just go to your local parts store. A remanufactured one is just like new. They only reuse the alternator case. Everything inside has been replaced.

I was told that alot of them are crap though. I think I'm going to go ahead and get a reman.

Go ahead and get one from a parts store. I always get mine from advance auto and they do me just fine for a while. Make sure you get the one with lifetime warranty though so if it goes bad, just pull the old swap-a-roo for free.

do the saturn alternator swap it easy and cheap and it will be the 1st time your DSM has seen 14+ volts at idle.

i did it to my 2G and my buddy did it to his 1G

if you have any question let me know. also i can help you get one too

I have never had a stock alt give me good idle volts where do you get your alts from?

How hard is that to do? What all do I need?

its really easy all you need it a dremel or even better a 4" angle grinder.

where the mounting bolt goes for your alt you just have to grind a little off and and then you have to grind a little off on the alternater too and i would recomend getting a "self exiciting regulator put on the alt that way the only wire you have to hook up is the power wire

Do I have to get the regulator or can I just hook up the Saturn alternator. Because it looks like all I hook up is two wires when I do the swap.what do i do with the other two wires from the stock alternator wiring??

yeah you can just hook up the wires but you have to get some special "GM CS" alt harness. there alot of info on the swap on the link fourms i can get new units with the self exiciting regulator for $140 i think

I have no idea how black gst got a Saturn Alt to work. Didn't look like it would work with my TSI AWD. Some more info would be nice. On the bad alternator, get yours rebuilt.

it works, you have to grind down the case of the alt where it bolts to the bracket on the engine and also gring the top and the front of the mounting point on the engine
