Winnipeg,
Okay when i drive my car normally its fine...but some times when i punch her she sometimes pops at a little. I haven't put that lucas fuel injector cleaner in a long time which i think is the problem. I have straight through no cat... and a 3inch magnflow exhaust. With 2.5" piping... full exhaust system. If any of you guys can help me that would be great.

Last summer my car was "popping" when I released the gas pedal. Then after one week of that it went away and hasn't returned.

You know what.... whenever i use lucas fuel injector it doesn't backfire. I haven't put that in my car in like 5 months so i think i should try that first.

It's a ramp that gradually becomes taller as it goes around a circular disk. It has numbers on it. You push the spark plug along the ramp to whatever number you want, and the ramp widening will widen your plug gap.

what is a good plug gap.

There are a few different kinds, and some people have their preferences for which one to use for whatever reasons. This is one of the most common:

All of them are pretty cheap. As mentioned before, using the top model, slide the ramp up to where it can't go any further. Read the tool at the edge of the electrode that meets the ramp. That's your gap. If the gap is too wide, you can use a small hammer to lightly tap the electrode down to .028". The guy who showed me how to use the tool actually used the edge of the tool to tap the electrode down, so that's another option.

Are you recirculating your BOV? Do a boost leak check?

the BOv isn't recirculating and i didn't do a boost leak check. I'm pretty sure its a eletrical problem. I'am thinking spark plugs. Also my exhaust is straight through. I'am going to try a few things. But my buddy told me it has to be electrical. Also how do i do a boost leak test?

how do i do that....

according to your profile you have a full engine swap and an upgraded turbo but you do not know how to gap your own plugs? you might be in over your head a little.

Please recirculate your bov. That is most likely the cause of your problems. Since it is open to the atmosphere right now, every time you let off the gas, you are releasing metered air. The ecu thinks it is still there and adds more fuel hence you run rich which could definately cause your "popping" sound.

Recirculate your BOV!

And for god sakes, do a boost leak test also! That is one of the most important routine things you should do.

okay...i'am going to recirculate. But not exactly sure how to do a boost leak test.

How to make and use a boost leak tester.

Use an air compressor/tank to pressurize the system to 20psi (according to your aftermarket boost gauge) and listen for leaks. Spray soapy water all over the intake tract to identify leaks. If the intake tract can hold 20 psi for about 30 seconds, you'll be good. Leaks will be obvious to find.

The gap you want to set your plugs at is .028. :thumb:

What if they're 30-32?:D I guess I should change mine?

Use this link, it might help http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209898

Build a device like that, hook up a compressor to it and pressurize the system. If you hear fluttering or any other noise it means that you have a leak from where the noise is coming from.

Another thing that might be causing the problem is perhaps that you're running too much boost.

When it "pops", does it sound like a mild "puttering"? My NT was doing that, and a spark plug + wire change solved the problem....
