After a clunking noise in sharp turns I lifted my car off all 4s and put it in gear and let it idle. All the wheels turn nice and smooth except the front left side stays still. No clunking noises during this test though. Im Lost. Broken axle, center diff, t-case? Noticed the noise after a launch a few days ago.
Any input would be nice.
Thanks:thumb:

Only perfect traction conditions is a car AWD, or 4wd. Thats life with open differentials, power follows the path of least resistance. If a truck has both driver side tires on ice, and the passenger side tires on dry pavement, in theory that trucks' SOL.

Youre rear diff is limited slip, front is open.

Check out google for more, such as limited slip differentials.

Made me a little nervous when you went under the front with no jack stands.

Me too, its all I had at the time though. So I went and started it again, and held the spinning wheel still. The left side still didnt move, front diff maybe a broken axle?

holding that wheel still should of made the other spin something is definitely wrong . i would drain the fluid in trans to see if there is any metal . it could be your front diff .

Thats what im guessing. Put the car up for sale seeing I rebuilt the whole car besides the Trans and now have no money and it was my daily :ohdamn: If it doesnt sell within the time im looking for a trans ill keep it. But other wise.. Any AWD transmission lying around anybody LOL?

Dude you can find one for like 400 bucks with a matching tcase, dont sell it, especially if you rebuilt everything else.

I dont want to, trust me. Iv got about $100 right now LOL. I get paid in 7 days and that was only a 25ish hour pay check due to a vacation I went on. So in 7 days ill have $400. Then I have my debt, rent, and insurance. Not to mention I dont have the time or tools right now to swap it in myself so id need a shop to do it. So im probably looking at alittle under a grand.

Youll never get back what you put into it, I'll always keep mine, I'm in it 3 times the kbb of my car LOL, and I'm just hung up on tuning and street tires.

No one will respond to my texts about t-cases and transmissions that they have for sale, im going crazy LOL

A 4 spider still uses the stock VCU for a front rear limited slip. It does nothing however to change the open front diff. Unless a front LSD is installed, or the front diff is welded the front diff is still open.
Id like to point out after stopping the spinning wheel and seeing the left side still not moving, upon releasing the wheel i was holding still, it actually didnt return to spinning. So both front wheels werent moving then. So im thinking the front diff is broken to a degree. Even tho you are right about it being an open diff. This is my first dsm after a long line of track ready VW GTIS with LSDs. So i just kinda forgot that dsms had open fronts

My bet is on broken center diff. Open it up and look. You have nothing to lose.

Thats what I'm guessing at this point. Waiting for my pay check then I'm ordering a used tcase and trans. both were the only things with high miles so i might aswell replace them with both.
