AWD tranny on FWD car which flywheel , clutch ???

Hi,

1- I have a Eclipse AWD tranny on a Eclipse Fwd , I want to know if I need the flywheel from a AWD car or a FWD car ? same thing for the clutch ?

2- also I have the AWD Front brake convertion and i want to know if I need the FWD axles or the AWD axles .

I have buy the car with all that stuff already install in the car so I dont know what i need to do if i need to change any of these parts

clutches are the same between 1G/2G/fwd/AWD, use the flywheel with whatever type of tranny you are using. IE fwd tranny, fwd flywheel. But keep in mind the differences between 6 bolt and 7 bolt with the flywheel as well.

As for the brakes, they bolt the the hub so an axle change is not needed. but you may need to swap brake lines. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/BigBrakesInfo.html AND http://www.vfaq.com/mods/BigBrakesInstall.html for further questions on the brakes.

If its a AWD trans - you need a AWD flywheel.

I would imagin you need AWD axels also.

If you look at the driver side axle, if its in 2 parts then there AWD
(1 axle runs from the hub to the jackshaft, jackshaft runs to the trans)

FWD 2g's just have a 1 piece axel.
(runs from the hub to the trans)

I didnt think a awd tranny would work on a FWD car.

the guy tell me its a AWD tranny with a cover or something like that covering the hole for the AWD on the tranny

yes a AWD tranny will work, you need to have the case modified. I remeber reading onhow to do it but cant remeber the exact specific as of now, butI amy search and find it for you if you like, you can use either AWD of FWD axels, but the FWDs are actually thicker so they tend to take more abuse, and as dave mentioned if you use AWD axles you need to use the axle bracket that bolts to the AC compessor bracket (or fabricated spacer). Plus the backingplate need to be slightly modified to mimic the AWD bracket. TRE has a write up on this procedure.
