one of the fastest drag eclipse in the realm of the proffesionals was rwd.
You would be talking about Brent Rau.

There are a bunch of RWD DSMs. However there are certainly not many mid engine- rwd dsms.

Maybe like this 3rd gen?

Seems odd to me there haven't been more mid-engine conversions of DSMs.

Do not post street racing video links, even if they are in the shadow of the tallest mountains on the continent that have no trees.

Ok, SO!!!!, Just a question, Is it really even possible to make an eclipse rwd? Like, customizing, anyway what so ever to make an eclipse rwd? I know about the Nopi one, but i heard its just an eclipse chassis, nothing else. SO!! i really dont know. If anyone has any info. Id love to hear it. Thanks :dsm:

If you search you will find.!! There are a couple of threads about this.Hit up the search button. There was a thread just 2 weeks ago about a rwd eclipse and even a link to a video.

I have a 95 GSX and i've got my mind set on Converting it to real wheel drive.
So the question is what does it take to make a AWD a STRONG RWD
thanks -

ok thanks that helps a bit as far as some parts needed but it doesn't go into any detail about how to install or perform the modification

im sure that i'm going to upgrade the driveshaft and rear axles and i believe the rear end gears or even the hole thing is going to need to be strengthend to handle full power to the rear

i am more in need of a reference of someone who has done the job already or a discription of how its done since i couldn't find any threads on this exact subject
so i really dont have anything to go off of

thanks for the info

Rau did it. I guess you could try getting a hold of him. Also you could just call up Buschur, and talk with them and Im sure they could fill you in.

Yea somewhere on www.streetfire.net in the video secton under dsms, it shows Brent Rau's blue rwd dsm with the engine turned side ways... Looked sick. Of course a very custom exhaust, tranny, axles, motor mounts would be needed for this, and no telling the after problems of doing it down the road.
Would be very expensive to do, might as well go and by a jdm 240sx with a sr20dett in it for the price of all that and call it a day and keep the dsm awd. I mean yea, Id prefre rwd over all wheel drive platform simply because its the funnest to me, but you will lose your great dsm awd launching capabilities, most likely run slower track times, but yet still have the awds weight... It would only be worth it if you just like to drift I guess, and even then I dont think dsms are set up and balanced good enough to be competitive drifters ...

I have a 94 4g63 mirage, im sick of fwd, i want to do something different so i have been looking in to RWD. Any ideas on the best way to do this?

If you search this forum you will find a few posts on rwd. To sum it all up for you. Anythings possible if you have enough money and time on your hands. It would be a very big project for somthing like this on your car. And alot of fabrication. If your looking for some easy bolt on application, im sorry there just isnt any that I know of.

i know its not going to be easy. just looking for the easyest way out of all of the extreamly hard and expensive ways

There will be a lot of fabrication to get the rear end, the drive shaft, and tc in, plus all the other little things that need to be done. The money put into making your mirage rwd could be well invested into making an insaine highway sleeper. Corvettes wouldn't know what to do ;).

Did the mirage ever come in an awd model? If not then I think the only option will be hard and expensive. Your basically looking at getting the tranny, transfer case, complete rear end, and gas tank out of a an old awd and putting it under your car. Then you have to make a drive line that will fit. (not sure on the wheel base of each vehicle) Does your car have a tunnel running to the back of the car? That will be necessary for a drive line to fit properly. Your best bet would be to find a used 1g or 2g awd and do a rwd conversion on that. Again there are a few posts on the topic. Your going to have to buy one anyway for a donner car.
