Autometer boost gauge question

Ok, I did search for my problem, and couldn't find it exactly, so I am hoping someone can help me. I purchased the Autometer Pro-Comp 30/30 boost gauge, and I have the hose going to the proper place, but I am having a problem with connecting the hose to the gauge itself. The problem is, it doesn't seem to seal anywhere, the little adapter doesn't seem to do anything. Can someone who has installed this gauge help me?

Ok, let me see if I can make this somewhat easy to understand, never been great with instructions. You should have gotten two brass fittings and one ferrule with your guage. The larger of the two brass fittings is the one that will screw onto the back of the guage. It will have internal, and external threads. Then to connect the air line to the guage, you take the smaller brass fitting, the one with internal threads only, and slide it down over the end of the air line. Then take the small ferrule and slide it onto the line as well. Take the air line with the fittings on it, and thread them to the other fitting you have already installed on the guage, making sure to push the air line is as far as you can while tightening them down.

To connect it to the T fitting under the hood, the little rubber adapter is used. Slide the air line into it, and slide it down on the T fitting.

Yeah, I've done that, maybe I'm just not pushing the hose into the fitting hard enough, but it doesn't seem to be budging. I'll try it again.

Ok, I did as you said, but the air line just doesn't stay in there (talking about the connection to the actual gauge). Should the hose be small enough to fit in the small hole in the adapter that connects to the gauge? Because it isn't even close, so nothing is holding the line. What exactly is the ferrule supposed to do?

Figured out the problem, I was just hand tightening the fittings, I didn't realize the ferrule was supposed to get crushed. Works great now, thanks for your help.
