Hey guys Im new here and just had a question about my radiator. its a 2g rs 420a .

I replaced the radiator due to a crack... with a completely stock and the same exact radiator... now These 2 lines that I posted in my picture (i believe are the transmission connections?) I didn't mark them... (newb mistake i know) but i just wanted to double check that these are right.. because my little car is smoking... and since the rad changed i figured i messed up these 2 lines. but i also noticed smoke was coming from the cat converter... I was wondering if anyone can help a newb out ? if you need more info just ask . and thanks again..

Welcome to the forum, what color is the smoke does it smell sweet like antifreeze burning? I would say most likely just excess burning off but to be sure double check for leaks that maybe running from one place to another. As far as the Trans cooler lines someone correct me here as I have a manual but as long as you have them both hooked up and no leaks I don't think it is one way directional in the Trans cooler FYI.

thanks for the reply!

Okay, if its not 1 way directional i think im fine there if anyone else can chime in on that? thank alot...

the smoke i believe is coming out of the cat converter.. it is white burn but its not coming out of the back of the exhaust and its only when i turn the car off. it doesnt to appear to be leaking any fluids. i check for all those... it smells kinda like plastic-ish... kinda the only smell i could remember

I think you're right. I hooked up my IPT external cooler so that the barb towrds the firewall was on the top port of the cooler. I really don't think the direction matters though.

If the smoke smells sweet like syrup, its coolant. It could have spilled on your downpipe, dripped down to the cat and is burning off. Make sure you don't spill on the trans, those divets ontop fill up so quickly with dirt and grim its almost impossible to clean LOL.

Leave the car running for a bit, and monitor your temps. Let all that shit burn away.

mr needles-
i ran it for almost an hour this morning ...cause i thought i spilled antifreeze into the exhaust manifold and it went down the down pipe.. but it hasnt stopped yet.. and it appears to be seeping throught the cat converter... should i just take everything off and make sure there no blocked exhaust?

That's what I would do. If you have no overheating problems, maybe the exaust is blocked. You say the smell is plasticy?

At one time a grocery bag had found its way to my exaust and melted to the pipe. Check real well. But, yes I would pull it and give a good look over.

thanks ... i think imma try to burn it out before i go in... if i go in and take out the exhaust im just going to replace the headers and downpipe with ones i have aftermarket... thanks for the info. i will let you guys know if i can burn it out or end up cleaning it,.

I would pull just the cat you can see most of the down pipe anyway pull the cat and see if you have a bag or leaf or something burning.

thanks i got i fixed it!... i removed the headers all the way to the cat converter.. shit was thick dirty and gross .. it had anti freeze in it burning up the carbon bulid up. i appreciate all your help fellas.!!!
