How long are you holding it? It takes at least a few seconds. Wait for the boost to build then it will launch hard.

I have a 4 speed auto GS-T. Its fun to drive and really good but how can I get proper speed? Its not that fast. I know the neutral drop is a piece of shit. Don't even start there. ;)

Stand on the brake with left foot

Rev up to stall speed with the right

On green, let off the brake and minipulate throttle (get on in) as needed to not spin tires...

Might not be the best or "fastest' way, but it worked for me.

Everything hornet said + Don't power brake it for more than 10-15 seconds at a time MAX. Heat builds up fast and can really mess up your tranny. Also when you get done racing, turn on your AC so that the secondary fan kicks on to allow things to cool down a bit. Make sure you let the car have time to cool down after each run. If your on the T25 you should be able to launch at about 9psi before losing traction if you can feather the throttle. When I had the 20G on the car I could not launch over 5psi without spinning profusely.

I am looking for different techniques on how launch my automatic tranny...

Post the special technique that helps you keep up with 5 speeds off the line.

If you are going to be doing this, which really is how to launch an automatic, then you need to be pretty religious about changing your ATF. This burns the fluid pretty quickly.

Also, don't do this for very long at one time (a few sec. max) and give it a little cool down time between launches.

Floor brake

Floor gas

Release brake

Don't floor the gas.... You'll spin like hell off the line. Just hold the RPMs a little before your turbo spools. I held mine at 3,000 with the brake to the floor, and then my t-25 spooled up as soon as the hands dropped. I also had the car into 1st gear (or low), and then shifted at 6500 rpms which really shifted at 7000-7200 because theres a delay with the a/t's, when you shift from 1st, go straight to drive (skip 2nd gear) and just keep 'er between the ditches til the end. Thats what seems to be the fastest, at least for me. Hope that helps.

i have a 60-1 turbo and high stall converter so i do things a little different. i switch my boost controlller to low which is always on low 14 psitill i hit the horn(what i have it wired to).then hit the line lock switch and pump the brakes, ease my foot down to the floor and let boost come on to about 3500 rpm and then when the converter starts to flash up to about 4-4500 rpm i kill power to the line locks and hit the horn to hi boost 25 psi and ba-bam! you just left better than a clutch killer manual guy!

How do you line lock an AWD?? Is is the same as RWD? Just lock the front brakes to hold you should don't have to hold the pedal?? Or is it just a way to lock all four corners without the pedal??

yeah i wanna know to !!! how is the reaction w/line lock? is it instant or does it take a second to "read"? this would seem alot better than using left and right feet. :talon:

yeah man thats what im saying!!! you will launch at the speed of your finger pushing a button. rather than working , 2 feet doing 2 diff things.its electrical so it doesnt take any time at all. as soon as you have the go, you launch at the speed of your finger!!!and i bet it could take the holeshot from a manual. so you got a link for your line locks dude??? :talon:

installing the line locks was a little of a bi***....first my car had abs so i junkd that stuff and got some brake lines from a non abs car that go from the proportioning valvto the front calipers and swaped out the proportioning vavlve it self while i was at it.the next thing was installing the line locks themselves, the first problem was that the dsm use a funky way of proprotioning the brakes where older cars use the valve to control either the front or the back. the dsm system runs the left front and the right rear on the same line and the right front and the left rear on the other,if you dont get what i mean just look at the brake lines on your car carefully and you'll see what i mean.So i decided to use 2 seprerate line locks,so first problem solved! the second problem was were i wasted some cash so listen up. your stock brake lines are metric! The line locks are most likely not! and seeing as how you have to run one on each of the line coming from you master cylinder to you proportioning valve, this can pose a little problem. So back to the non-abs parts car i went and took the lines off at the master cylinder and went to the parts store and bought 4 pieces of metric brake line that would screw into the master cylinder and then i bought a inverted flare making tool and the STANDARD inverted flare end fittings that would screw in the line locks and began to TRY to make inverted flares,DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME or MONEY ON THE TOOL! I ended up after 2days of trying to make good flares and found a shop that makes hyd. hoses and stuff and ended up paying $20 to have the flares made! i spent more on the damn'd tool! i got home screwed the metric ends in the proportioning valve and the other standard ends in the "in" side of the line locks and then screwed the other standard end of the other lines in the "out" side of the locks and into the master cylinder and wired them up to a momentary switch or the rear window defogger switch like i did.... hope this helps ..mods feel free to move if you need to ! i'll to post pics soon :thumb:

the way i do it is get to the line. push brakes down. and since the pressure is depended on the motor, I shift to neutral. rev. the motor up to about 2500, you will feel the brake pedal go in even more since you added the pressure to the lines. shift back into gear. take up your rpms to desired ammount. and you wont even move an inch. let off the brake and take off.

I have to disagree with all this line lock talk, I under stand that technically the brakes will release a little faster, but in the real world not near enough to make any kind of a difference. for a awd car your going to need two systems anyway. Line locks are not an easy thing to install. Line locks were never made for this kind of a car. They were created for two reasons. One was for a burn out on an rwd car so you can only apply the front brakes while you do your burn out, and the other reason was for in the staging lanes so your car would not roll at the tree in a manual car when you have the clutch in. I personally don’t see any reason to line lock an automatic car

I agree...I fail to see how a linelock will help with launching. Perhaps it'll help with RT, but I can lift my left foot pretty quickly :). It seems like a whole lot of work for not THAT much benefit. A transbrake on the other hand is a whole other ball game...

alright well when you guys make a trans brake for these cars let me know and i'll use it. till then my dual line locks hold the brake better than i can standing on the damn pedal! and it isn't that bad of a install, i could probly do it i a hour or two now that i know whats needed. So for the $125 i got invested compared to what a trans brake would probly cost i'm completely satisfied.

ok... holding the brake... reving till about 3.5 grand then letting go of the brake.

i know this is how you launch the auto.... but i was wondering if it was bad for the car ?? will it F* somthing up ?

thanks -- josh

It heats up the ATF pretty good, so only do it for less than 5 seconds at a time. And add a good aftermarket tranny cooler; then you'll be fine.

And you probably should've put this in the A/T forum, where this topic has already been discussed quite a bit.

Yea so I have full exhaust, b16g @ 18psi using 100 octane fuel on stock 450cc and stock smic the rest of my mods are in my profile. I break boosted at all different RPMs ect. and I still cant get better than a 2.5 60ft i launch and the car bogs and then it picks up really quick I have a trap speed of around 96mph. What can the problem be?
