Okay so i went out to try to top my car out and i got to 115. i know my overdrive on my auto tranny went out the day i bought it but i seen that it had only shift 1-2 at about 40 and then 2-3 at about 60 at about 5500 rpm and then while in 3rd i brought her all the way up to about 6999 rpm at 115. then she never shifted and i let off. I have he 97 gst spyder. Didn't that year come with a 4 speed auto with od or a 5 speed manuel? Or is the OD the 4th gear?

Yup sounds like you have no 4th gear(OD)....Not that I have done it but the car will top out at 137 withought the governer being taken out..

We don't condone using public roads passed the posted speed limit..

OD .... IS, the 4th gear.

F4A33 auto trannies (which you have) came out in the late 80's - designed for turbo use.

odd thing is, I have this auto trans. in my 420a rs.

LOL it was a closed course on my buddies property. and i like how you said you cant go past 120-125 unless ownhill. just brought a smile to my face

I topped out my old 1997 gs at 130 then she bogged to 125-120. Due to the vss on the tranny. Oh I wasnt going downhill and month later I to change my water pump and timing belt because of this.

I bet yours would go out pretty soon, because of it. Do your search and what read the write ups of what you can do to the stock to tranny to prevent that block gov' issue. It applies to both n/t and turbo auto's.

Why would anyone love a n/t for anything except delivering pizzas?

A backup when the turbo car breaks and during when its a jackstand queen. LOL :p joking.
