I have an automatic Eclipse 1999 everytime when it switches gears, like from from 2nd to 3rd, it kind of jerks do you know what the problem could be.

usually when it jerks it means ur tranny is slipping....Definitley not good if it happens alot if it does then your due for a rebuild.

u bet....It slipped like urs then it would lag in shifts, then sometimes i would floor it at the line and it wouldnt go nowhere until it reached about 2500 rpms and would take off slowly and also it started to leakin tranny fluid and it wasnt leakin from the pan it was like leakin from the top of the tranny..well i bought the IPT rebuild kit and took my car to a local tranny guy and it ended up that my torque converter was shot,my tranny pump was bad, and my end clutches were burnt out..and the end clutches with the torque converter were aftermarket level 10 stuff...Guess that shows there "bulletproof transmissions" are crap. So yeah cost me about 2 grand altogether to get it all fixed with new TC,IPT clutches, tranny pump then basically had everything that IPT supplied me with put on. it shifts like butter now and has been good as new and feels great.

Would the dealer be a good place to have my transmission checked out to see if there is anything wrong.

Well you could do that and the mitsu guys would know what there doing but i bet they would charge you alot. I brought mine to a local tranny guy here in town and he said he hasnt worked on many dsms but he still fixed it and found every problem in there and did a awesome job. Its up to u really the dealer would know the tranny of course but like i said loot. :dsm:

How would the dealer check the tranny would there be a code that would show up that there is something wrong with the tranny or would they test drive to see how it shifts.

probably both..They might even say they might need to pull the tranny out to see whats wrong with it which they will charge you an arm and a leg.

Look into ImportPerformanceTrans.com

They got rebuild kits or basically anything you need for our trannys they are numba 1 :thumb:

Or call and talk to John(owner) he is very helpful and can answer just about any question you have.

At what mileage where you having problems with your transmission.

47k So i dont think in my situation was the fact that my tranny was aging..Just the power i put to it broke it.

What kind of power where you runnin when the tranny started to have problems.

Everything u see in my profile are the mods that were on the tranny at the time, i was runninlike 18psi and i was not tuned at all..maybe 250 or more whp not really sure never dyoend it. Oh and i wasnt nice to it i would pound on that sucker all day long thus probably why it broke also.
