Auto Trans toast car barley moves

I think i am looking at a new trans but i just want some opinions on the problem. I got the car form a friend who has it sitting since 02. The ecu was toast so i changed that and the fluids and fired it up. The car runs fine but after it warms up and u put it in gear you barely move forward but the rpms keep going up almost like a slipping clutch. After crawling forward about 10 feet i get the A/T Temp lights?? But i put it in reverse and she goes like a bat out of hell backwards. the trans fluid is full and smells goof and not burnt. anyone have any ideas ??
