auto trans to manual

I can get a good deal on a 1998 GS-T automatic, so I was throwing around the idea of just making it a manual. Has anyone ever done this conversion/ how did it work out. Also, would i need any other parts besides a new bell housing, trans, shifter assembly and clutch/and or do I have to pull the engine? Tell me what you guys think. I'm ready for a project.

I think you'll need different axles, not too sure about the tranny mount, might need to be switched to manual mount, and I think you'll need to switch ecu, auto and manual are different. I've never done this on a dsm, just talking from experiance with other cars.

Yeah i was thinking of doing the swap too. Yes you'll need axles, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, pedal assembly, clutch, and other misc. stuff that adds up.

Best way to go about this project is to get a donor car to get the parts from. You could probably get a smashed car for the parts for about the price u would spend on all the stuff seperate unless u can get a good deal. The swap can be bone w/ the engine in the car but you might need some good jackstands so you can get underneath your car. Im not too sure about 2g but 1g has a seperate computer for the automatic trans that can be removed(manual doesnt have a comp), youll need axle shafts, clutch pedal assy, clutch fluid reservoir, slave cylider, most likely the manual trans mount, the trans and shifter/cables. I did the swap on my 1g and it was no fun but neither was changing it from n/t to turbo. It will definitely be worth it when your shifting your own gears instead of a comp doin it for you.
