I have a 92 talon N/T with an auto trans, if i give it WOT the car works fine goes through all the gears no slipping at all, but if im crusing at 30 or 40 mph at 20% throttle the trans starts to slip. I have no idea what to check for, the fluid is new and the level is good.

Well, maybe it starts slipping when going into 4th gear? That would mean that your "end clutch" has worn out and the clutches and steel plates inside need to be replaced. Easy fix. About 70 dollars in parts and a 25 minute job. The transmission doesn't even need to be removed. You just have to take the passenger side wheel off and remove the end clutch cover and pull it out.

Is the fluid new cause u changed it or did u just add some and call it new. If not go get some new fluid flush your system ( should tell u how to in your book) including trying to get all the fluid out of the torque converter, change the filter and refill.

Do you beat on it alot?Alot of neutral booms stuff like that?Hows it on down shifting when u come to a stop?

I just got the car recently it was my sisters car, it was probably not beat on, i want to say i dont think it down shifts i cant remember right now.

I drained the fluid and put new in. I never changed the filter

You seem to be running two threads on this problem.

If your new ATF refill was something besides Mopar ATF+4 you should add a bottle of Lubegard in the black bottle before trying anything expensive. Our transmissions are sensitive to the ATF.

It's not 3rd it OD turn the OD off when it starts to slip and see if it downshifts. Common on the n/t for the OD to fail.

It works now changed the end clutch and it works fine, thanks

you got the parts and changed them in a afternoon?
If its still slipping try some lucas tranny fix,i swear by that stuff and if you combine it with a filter change it almost always works.

130,000 and the fluid is good.

I dont know if anyone else said this but, the AT trannies tend to go out around 130k(when not rebuilt prior). Mine went out at 131k. I myself, from what I went trough would get it rebuilt ASAP, I had some similiar issues that you have right before mine went out.

Lucas is a good "fix" for the moment but it doesnt fix the issue. And the end clutch is easy to do.

Also just FYI for "ya'll" B&M trick shift, or the Royal purple Max ATF is great stuff for the w4a33 or the f4a33, thats the best you can buy, also the B&M is cheap.

Before I get flamed I dont mean that Lucas doesnt work it does and is a great product, what I mean is it "covers up"(lack of better words) the problem. You may not have any more problems, but the issue that caused the problem is still there, and can grow.

pics of the old end clutches!
My tranny is fine but it does have 140,xxx miles.I plan on doing the maintance if i can find a tcu,if not then 5 speed it is!

Why are you worried about the TCU? Also at 140k it wouldnt hurt to do at least your end clutch, it is easy and not the expensive. And you dont have to pull the tranny to do it.
