Auto tranny Slipping

I am not sure what is going on. I have a 92 laser 2.0n/t auto. When I get on the car hard then let of the gas and then get on it again the tranny quits working. I do have the overdrive on when I am doing this. I have noticed that I need to turn off the overdrive to get the tranny to engage again.

Am I about to lose the overdrive or am I just driving it wrong? Maybe time for a fluid change.

I've heard OD goes out a lot on DSMs, I think you just need to rebuild the end clutches? Not sure, when my tranny lost OD, I lost all the other gears too, so I just junked it.
