My auto trans took a turn for the worst today. First thing I noticed was, when on the highway accelerating, I would hear this thumping noise and it sounded like my engine cuts out during each thump. It has also been downshifting really hard when coming to a stop. I would roll to a stop, and it would just brake suddenly like engine braking. Just now, coming to a stop, my car completely died on me. After I started it up again, the tranny stayed in first gear. I had to ride it out at 6k rpms to my school parking lot. Any ideas?
