I have an ATX AWD 97 TSi AWD and am looking to convert an ATX GS-T Spyder to AWD with that car. Would the computer recognize the trans? Would the electronics connect to the car? Would everything shift as intended?

I've read http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-drivetrain/95132-how-2g-fwd-awd-swap.html, is there anything different for ATX? Are the front hubs of the AWD different than the FWD?

I have a lift, air tools, torches, and welder to do all the stuff. I was reading and there was some debate that it would cost $2000 extra for the conversion to a Spyder (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/4529-awd-conversion-97-gst-spyder.html). Not sure why, someone clarify?

I'm not going to go huge power on this, maybe a T28 or 16g w/ stock internals w/ supporting mods. Maybe 300-350hp or so, I want it very streetable. Staying SMIC, considering an upgrade. I am considering a torque converter since the trans will be out, any input on those would be great. I already have a built valve body and bigger cooler for trans upgrades.

So how unreasonable is this? Has it been done (ATX AWD Spyder)?

I've seen it done before. I believe theres one on Shearer's website...ShearerFab.com

Team-Trinity.com Justin (turbo1307 on here) along with a few others helping made his spyder AT AWD.

you will need a AWD tcu and to make things easier make sure its the same year as the trans. And as long as you have a donor AWD car it should'nt cost you much of anything but time and accomplishment.
