auto meter tempgauge hook up

i know a little bit bout cars but can any one give me the heads up on how to hook up a auto meter temp gauge up an easy way.....like to the factory guage wires, ### the one took a shit on me. your help is appreciated and thank you. add pics if u have any.

your water temperature sensor should be by the thermostat housing, locate it. if your stock water temp gauge no longer works, then disconnect the wires running to the sensor and run your own new wires through the firewall and into your autometer one.

i was looking at the back of the gauge...what wires go were and do u hook up the 2 wires for the light to the running wires for the gauge?

I'm a little confused at your question. The two wires for the light on your gauge are power and ground. You need to ground the ground wire to metal and tap your power wire into something that is only hot when you turn your lights on. The wire at the cigarette lighter that lights up the ring around it is a nice easy place to get to but anything will work.
