auto gsx trans issues

I've been searching my problem for a good while now but can't seem to get a good answer. I just finished a engine swap in my 97 auto gsx and I can't get it to shift. Neutril Park and reverse work normal but when you select drive it stays in one gear and doesn't shift. It wasn't doing this before the swap . Could it be the cable adjustment? Any write-up on it?

I'm not sure what gear it's stuck in when it's in drive but it will shift down when you put the gear selector in low

Did you put a 6 bolt in it or another 7 bolt?

To adjust the cable, loosen the nut on the gear selectpr , place the shift lever in neutral. Take the gear selector on the trans and line up the lever with the little hole. (3clicks towards the rear and its in neutral. Hope that helps

It's a 2.4 7 bolt I adjusted it and nothing changed:/

Check the plugs on the tranny, two of them are near identical and can be accidentally swapped, causing a 3rd gear only issue

I'll give it a shot but when I first start it it stays in first , when I punch it the engine shortly sputters at around 4k and it will shift into third and stay there . I can then shift into low and it feels like it goes to seccond, and drive puts it back to 3rd .

Stumped at this point all wires and connectors look fine, pulled the tcu it looks and smells fine and no trouble codes.... Ughh

Finally got a code reading on it after I had to fix the obd port not getting power, I got a code for the pulse generator . No one seems to stock the part anyone knows who stocks it?

Ahh, didn't know it started out in first. Definitely Pulse Generator(s)I have always just grabbed them from a JY car. They are essentially the same between the 91-99 auto DSM's (not including 420a equipped cars). Have you tried swapping the plugs for the pulse generators around (there are two of them out on the OD cover). I have never seen one go bad, but if it is damaged/cracked or plugged in wrong. I had the same issue in a 91 auto AWD, I had cracked one. Replaced it with one form a FWD 1.8l 92 and she still works great.

Thanks for all the help, I ordered a replacement from mitsu. The connectors are similar but aren't interchangeable in my car.
