Just got back from the autocross event at Columbus WI. I had to leave early and of course got there late. I was the only DSM there! The car performed flawlessly! The driver; not so good! Kinda mostly out of control most of the time. Wet raining track. No traction problems for me. I just tore it up and ran over cones anyways. I got in about five runs. Tall guy with a helmet in a small car! Kinda made me feel a bit of claustrophobic. My first run out on the short twisty course was embarrassing. I got there late and did not get to walk thru the course and i had trouble reading the cones. Sounds lame but when you're whipping around a corner and there's a whole spread of cones in front of you panic sets in. I did a couple of brake lockups and even punted one cone a considerable distance with the front clip. The turnout wasn't very big so even though I was only there for all of and hour and a half I still got five runs in. The guys from Madison sports car club were nice enough to let me in even though I arrived way late and did not get to do the driver's briefing etc. In all I was trying to go too fast and showoff a bit too much. A few runs later after I settled down and lost the case of the nerves I was doing a lot better but I was still I guess turning a straightaway section into a slalom.:(I was actually the only car entered in my class so if I had been able to stick it out til the end I would have won a trophy but alas my stimulus check got spent on a new frig and stove that are being delivered today so I had to go. It was very fun! Very exciting! Got my blood flowing! I could see that being addictive. There is another event next weekend in Jefferson that I am going to go to. I was hoping to see other dsms there!

I woke up at 6am, looked outside only to see it pouring rain out. I knew the track would be horrible and the turnout low, so I decided to stay home and wait for a better day. I wasn't in the mood to change tires in the rain either, the extra 6 hours of sleep I got was more fun. Oh well, let me know if you will be going to the next MSCC autocross, i'll probably drive down.

good to hear you made it out. I would have loved to go, Auto-X + rain = VERY FUN!!!!!

Yeah, those MSCC guys are very nice. They let us (FVSCC) barrow their timing equipment as we lost all our timing equipment in a car accident/fire last fall.

I hope you'll be coming to the DSM auto-x shootout on June 22nd up here in Marshfield WI. should be a good time, very good DSM-Friendly course.
