For my DD. I listen to some alt but mainly punk, pop/punk. I'm talking like early greenday, sum 41, blink 182, the ataris, ect..

So I'm planning on just going without any subs? So just threeways and a head unit, and I'll need an amp most likely? I'm a total car audio newb so I'm just here for some suggestions.

ive had alot of different brands of audio...and honestly the best ive had have been walmart specials.

I recommend Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers. They can get pricey, but five of the nine IASCA (International Auto Sound Challenge Association) World Finals winners were running Hybrid Audios... If that doesn't speak to the power of the speaker, nothing will... oh, and they're American made.

wow ok don't go with walmart brand the only thing good that i have found from walmart it the 4g wire. you should go with either Hertz or Alpine. you should only need a amp if your stero isnt pushing enough power.

Im a pioneer fan, tried and true. My whole setup is pioneer from the head unit, to the speakers, amp and sub. Even all my home audio is pioneer. I just love the quality of their products. Plus they sound great and can take some abuse.

If your on a budget the "roadmasters" they sell at wal-mart arn't too bad. I put two in the doors of my charger. They sound(ed) okay, just dont expect them to take much abuse. My $20 set lasted about a year+.

I like punk, metalcore with a little rap and about everything else from time to time. With what you listen to, I say just replace all the stock speakers (with whatever you chose). If you get a new head unit it should power them fine. Try that first, and if you dont like it you could run them on an amp. As far as a sub goes... I say go for it. Nothing crazy (like a 15" rap master blaster) Maybe like a 10" with a non-ported box. Not porting it will give it more response for rock music. (gotta love the double kick)

Either way, its all pretty easy to install. And no matter what, audio stuff is easy to re sell. So if you go one rout and dont like it, you wont be at a total loss.

good luck
