I've got a gorgeous ATI damper that's ready to go on but before I do, I've got a few questions for you guys out there that have installed this thing. My first question is: I still put on the timing indicator and balance shaft gear on before I put the hub on right? Secondly, the instructions talk a lot about honing, but for our application, is it enough to just heat the hub up before putting it on? Thanks for the help.

Yes and yes. We just tapped ours on with a mallet. But getting it off both times was a bi***. First time a beat it off, the second time I used a puller. Much easier with the puller.

Well, if ATI recommends honing the bore so that it just slips on the crank, I would think one could use a die grinder with a flapper sanding wheel to remove just enough material for it to slip on.

You must have read wrong, or they have changed the paperwork, DO NOT hone or bore the hub. It is suppose to be tight. That is how it does its job. It is a precision piece to fit just so. Please do not do that. You will have wasted what, nearly $600 or $700.
