arrows on valve cover by spark plugs?

hey all
just a quick question.. probably a stupid one, but i don't know the answer either way... so i'm asking all of you.
next to the spark plugs in cyl 1 and 4, there's an arrow that points up and right, and next to 2 and 3 there's an arrow that points down and right...
what are these arrows? just suggestions as to the direction to lay the spark plug wires? heh....

they show you which way to route the spark plug wires so they all fit nicely under the spark plug cover.
