I am looking at the extreme race FMIC. If you are using one were you able to keep the AC? Did you have to hack the bumper much? Anything else I should know? How well does it fit, the pipes that is and how well does it work? I have a 50 trim I need to cool. Mark

I posted some time ago inquiring about this IC as well and got no response. May be someone will tell us something here. My main concern was overheating (since it's a very dense fin garrett core). The cooling ability would be nice to know too, although it looks like it's gonna do the job judging by the size and fin density. My other option is 2-216 so any comparison would be nice.

The 2-216 would be great but I do not want to fab piping. I spoke to extreme and they said overheting could be an issue in warmer climates. I am in central, NY so it's not hot here for long. i have a 2-221 not yet installed but i heard it may not be enough for a 50 trim so I will sell it. Too bad as it has a nice custom upper short route pipe.Mark

I had a extrude tube 28x10.5x3.5 core, no a/c crap, 180 thermostat, and me also being in central NY (rome) i never once saw the gauge go up. The fmic is gone now, but i probly planned on the extremepsi racecore and fab my own piping. Its a little thicker, and probly flow a little less to the radiator than my old core, but i dont see many problems with overheating unless your sitting at alot of traffic lights on 90+ day wich we dont see too often here.

I think that extruded type of core would be letting more air through to a radiator. Have you seen a Garrett core up close? Whenever I see it I go "damn, that thing must run HOT" :) but it may be less of a problem in the real world, I dunno. I have an IRC street one (spearco 2-120) on my other car and it's ok but I can see through the fins pretty well on that one. I would put a 2-216 and be done with it but it makes me think that the extremepsi one may cool even better and that makes me want it. The price is decent as well.

I just got a Spearco 2-221 today from a classified. I called Spearco/Turbonetics and asked about the 216 and he said he would sell me one if i wanted but the 221 would handle my 50 trim just fine! The 221 is 18 x 6 x 3.5. It is listed to handle 760HP but RRE said 500HP was more realistic and the 221 flows 1080 CFM. The 221 seems small as i just sold a street dejon which was 15.5 x 7 x 3 so the 221 is only 16% bigger however it has57% more cooling tubes so i wil try he 221. ark

ive noticed most people arent/dont make over 350hp on the 50trim anyways... shouldnt have a problem with it.
