Are we ready for another Austin/SA Meet

Its actually going to be put back together on the 13th. Probably wont make it. The machine shop had to cut my crank, so that pretty much ruined my plans. :(

The meet might be the 21st, so you might have time.
I would have looked for another 7 bolt crank if they had to cut yours. I'm pretty sure you could have found a 7 bolt crank for cheap.

I would have too, but my first build I actually got more miles and abuse out of the cut/welded/turned crank then I did from the unopened factory motor. But it cost a little bit of money and took a trip to Cali to be sure it was done right. A decision I regret not using on the 2nd rebuild.

I have a NEW FACTORY 7 bolt crank sitting in the garage. If you're interested shoot me a pm.

If this meet is the 21st, that is a definate no go for me. :tease::toobad:

Justin, I would look at buying this crank from Travis.....especially since your going with forged internals. Do it right the first time.

on a side-note anyone in here have some spare oem turbo to manifold bolts I could buy (new or used). I am trying to get my car running asap without having to wait the extra time for shipments and what-not

well if you dont buy it justin i may need that crank for my GSX. :D

I thought it was running?

Hey do you still have a 6 bolt engine? Or a complete shortblock, either 6 or 7 bolt? Daniel with the spyder gst is looking for one.

So after reading all this....which was very interesting, does anybody know when the next meet will be? I didn't get to go to the last one and would love to go to this one before the year is over....

Thanks Travis for the offer. I told myself If I have to get a new crank, might was well go big. I'm going to for a stock rebuild to get on the road again, but within a year I'm going monster.

LOL man turbo swaps bring out more problems than you bargained for I swear. My car is never going to see the road again LOL. So I got the turbo and everything put in and wouldn't you know the freaking radiator neck at the top broke LOL. Already got the new radiator though. Hopefully I don't have any leaks. So is import faceoff $15 or $20?

:tease: :coy: i had the same problem's too when i change my manifold, my bolt's they broke so i have to tap them out from the turbo.

Heh. Good times at the junk yard. Me and Rick raped a 92' awd the other week. Took block, driveshaft, turbo, etc

Lol man what junkyards do you all go to? I need to be at that one. Lol well hit ANOTHER snag on the turbo install hahahaha. Now I have a slight oil leak from the damn pan ahhhhhhhhh. Everything else is ready to be fired up and then I see nice new oil on the ground :notgood:

A dsm that leaks oil?????? :D

Are you sure it's the oil pan and not the oil return line?

LOL yeah I fixed it "I think". There was some hard stuck on piece of the old gasket so I guess when I put my new one on it was uneven and the middle wasn't sealed. Luckily I bought 2 mr258477 gaskets from the dealer for 1.47 a piece and this time I put a little rtv gasket sealant on both sides of the second gasket and it isn't leaking now. Hopefully the car will start up fine and be ready to drive.

Maybe we're making too much of this meet. It can just be a few DSM enthusiasts getting together for drinks and talking about a common interest. We can share knowldege, trade parts, plan outtings (trips to salvage yard), etcc.
