I have come accross another problem... after the engine hits 2K rpms I hear lifters tick alot(mainly they are the 2 on number 2 cyl INTAKE).. as I progress and give it more throttle, It seems to get worse. When I had the gst, I had this problem, but after like the 15 first miles(rebuild), the lifter ticks went away. Driving this one 20 miles or so, and still didn't go away.

IM thinking its because of the oil that I used for the motor(conventional valvoline 10w30) and NO lucas oil stabilizer.... or does it sound to you that the lifters are bad? When I turn on the car I hear it for like half a second and goes away... once the rpms reach like 2K + I hear them. Remember, I put new total seal rings on this motor as well so thats why I used this motor oil.(heard its a good oil to make them sit) I took it to RIZERZone and the ASE mechanic in charge of the store there told me to add some lucas stabilizer and that should fix my problem, he reved up the car and yeah... But idk if I should really be trusting on someone that has maybe NEVER worked on DSM's before. The car only has about 20 miles on rebuild when it "ticks" it seems to struggle a little.like(80k in total)

So here are my questions:
Are these really symptoms of Bad/colapsed lifters?

Could it be because im using STRAIGHT 10w30 conventional oil?

Would it actually be a bad idea if I switched to 1GEN lifters?

let me know this is kind of getting on my nerves

The 1g lifters don't provide any noticeable improvement over the 2g's. Swapping to 3g's, though will get you in a pretty good position, as they re-engineered them for later models to have larger oiling holes.

If you're getting excessive tick and you think it's that they're collapsed, it probably wouldn't happen over 2k rpms because you'll have higher oil pressures. If they are faulty then they likely just need to be cleaned. Soaking them in diesel fuel has been noted to be very effective and should resolve your problem. Just be sure that you follow the procedures for a reinstall correctly or else they will not seat and correctly.

turns out I had rod knock. i used some rods that have spun a bearing on another motor(bought them of some guy in NY) I used 2 of these rods and it ended up scoring a LITTLE on the crank journal, the bearings also looked unusual... I guess thats what happens why you try to do "shortcuts" Im having the machine shop swap the original rods onto the good pistons I bought. thats why after 2k I would hear some type of knock.... thanks for the advice though.
