I have had a faulty MAF and ordered a replacement from eBay.
The seller advertised as a #609 but shipped me a #338.
My original is a E5T06071 #609, but the seller sent me a E5T06071 #338.
After installing my car runs like complete shit.
Is this because the 338 and 609 are completely different?

The connector is the same and the sensor itself looks identical.

I did order the 609 but was shipped the 338.
I figured it would be the same because of the E5T #, so I assumed the seller sent a compatible sensor.
But the car has a rough idle, and wont rev past 4000 RPM.

I am going to send it back and try to order another 609, hopefully I will get it this time.

Once I receive it I will follow up to this thread to let everyone know if that solved it.

Problem seems to be solved. I have finally received the proper model number and the car is running like it should.
That should be enough to clear up the issue that the 338 and 609 are not interchangeable.
