I am thinking about replacing my broken Blitz boost controller with the Apexi AVC-R. I am interested in anyones opinion of this unit. How do you like it? How hard was it to install? How easy is it to use? Or anything else you think is important to know. Thanks.

I have one partly installed, hooked it up to the ecu, I would also like to hear some comments on this. I have heard nothing but bad things about this, mainly that it is a pain in the a$$ to tune. I mainly wanted this to set the boost levels different do the fwd.

I have the AVCR on my FWD 1g and I like it. After hearing everyone say that its a pain in the butt to set boost levels its really not but you do have to mess with a bit to get it perfect. I had it installed by a shop in md so I dont know how bad the install would be. But Im pleased with the boost controller and its functions that allow me to set boost by RPM and gear which is nice when I go to the track or if I just want to roast the tires haha. So I would recommend it if you dont mind messing with it for a little bit to get it exactly where you want the boost levels to be. Hope this helps.

I have one in my Talon and I would not recommend it unless you have FWD. I can't stop it from spiking. I have to set mine to 0.80 kg/cm2 to get the desired 1.05 kg/cm2 even with the duty cycle set to a low 35%. I've tried pretty well everything and this works the best so far which is pretty poor boost control. The only good thing about it is that you can set different boost levels for each gear which is handy if you have a boosted FWD car.

I have the Greddy e-01 in my Eclipse and it works far better. All you do with the e-01 is set your desired boost, make a couple hard runs in 3rd or 4th gear and your set. With the AVC-R you are constantly changing the boost and duty cycle settings as changing one affects the other.

BTW: Installation wise it was pretty easy just like installing any electronic boost controller that comes with a pressure transmitter. You have to tap into the ECU and install the solenoid and pressure transmitter in the engine bay.

I have one, which I got with my car when I bought it, but replaced it with a manual boost controller. Read the user manual, but to damn complicated to set boost levels!
Also the solenoid was defective and didn't work. Tried to get another solenoid, but hardly available on the internet. I recommend you to go for the PRofec Type S :thumb: , much easier to set boost (off, low and high) or maybe the Turbo XS dual stage :thumb: (comes with a cockpit style swich)

Anyone no where I can get a a copy of the owners manual, I bought mine used and it didnt come with one and I would really like to learn how this thing works and how to tuen it. Thanks
