So my dad and I went to install my 6 inch JL audio's in my doors today... when to my dismay I realised they didn't fit! They were like 4 inch speakers in a big pod thing  The hole in the door is actually bigger then the 6 inch speaker itself. So is there any special adaptor pod thing that would hold a 6 inch speaker? I would really like to put my speakers in there so I don't have to worry about buying a smaller pair. Oh and please someone tell me the back speakers are atleast 6x9 :(

I Had to custom cut the mounts with a dremel. Alot of hacking away to get it to fit, but they WILL fit. Only being held in with 4 screws right now though. Im using 6.5" Eclipse's btw.

yeah i love my JL audio's I was just hoping to find an adaptor thing to fit them in. I mean if you take that pod thing out there is a hole bigger then the speaker itself. I just can not believe that eclipses don't come factory with 6 in speakers  But do they have 6x9 in the back? Or what size are those?

I forget what size the back are stock, but 6x9s will fit... If you don't mind taking a hammer to your car so the magnet will clear. I forget what exactly it is you have to pound whether its bracing or what, but several people have done it and are running 6x9s.

OMG you have to to be freaking kidding me...... There are so many kids around here with their nice stereo systems!!! I know there has got to be something professional to do about it!

I'll be proffesional about it, give me a F~ing hammer

I found this the other night searching through tech articles. Its not exactly what you want but I feel like posting it anyway.

I remember seeing this topic before, so it should be somewhere in a search. I looked for it for about .37 seconds then quit cause I'm a lazy bastard.

Thre speakers in the back are NOT 6x9's. To fit 6x9's back there you once again have to cut the mount's/ There little 4" speakers again in the back...

It depends on what model you have. You have a non turbo. I know my car came with 6 1/2's in front and 6x9 in the the rear. You could easily get the brackets for a turbo car and fit bigger speakers.

Correct, that is what I would do if you do not know someone who can make you custom mounts. I would recommend making custom Plates for the front doors to fit you speakers. Make them out of 3/4"-1" MDF. I put 8's in the front doors of my 98 GSX if used to have by just making a custom ring for each door. It is very easy to do. :thumb:

too bad ya didnt have the infinity system then ya woulda allready had 6" speakers in the door.
and ya there 6x9's in the rear ( in my car at least )

This may sound pretty stupid, but could be an easy cheap way to make the mounts. Go to Walmart and buy one of those cheap plastic cutting boards for kitchen use. Then make your mount out of that. The plastic is pretty strong. You may just need to make some brackets for each side of the speaker instead of cutting the hole in the board.

Or you could check a car audio place or Crutchfield. I know on my 1G I put 6’s in the doors just fine. :laser:

I also put 6 1/2 speakers in my doors, and 6 by 9s in the back, none of my speakers fit so I had to cut a lil bit, it only takes like 10 minutes to cut everything, I used a jigsaw 4 the back speakers and a dremel 4 the doors, and u will have to cut a lil bit off the door panels or they won't fit back on, there's a lil ring of plastic around the holes where the speaker is in the doorpanels, this will hit your speakers if u don't cut it and u won't be able to put your door panels back on. But its an easy cut soo good luck.

My talon came stock with 6.5's in the front and 6x9's in the rear i did not have to do any modding to anything to make them fit, except in the rear, where i couldn't use the pioneer speaker grilles that came with the speaker, cause it wouldn't fit under the door panel. I actually put foam around the edge of the speaker to keep the panel from hitting it.

In the front, there are definetly speaker brackets for the 6.5's. Hit or junk yard or buy them here: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-y63o60UKfsR/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?g=103200&avf=Y

Nothing for a 6" , though. Maybe you can MacGuyver the 6.5"s?
