anyone with a GT35R out there?

im looking to get a GT35R for my 2g.....right now i have 3in exhaust, b/c, crushed 1g bov,intake, act 2600, FMIC .....im ordering dsm link, injectors, feul pump...ect soon ...i was just wondering how much can you push it before it gets too much for your stock internals to handle, on the GT35R set up.....i dont really want to upgrade internals...maybe just apr head studs and a metal head gasket
anyone with advice for this set up would be appreciated

also for HP im looking for 350 at the lowest...i really would like around 400HP but i know its hard without upgrading internals
 
and also this is going to be a custom turbo kit.....where can i find the oil lines....ect(other install stuff) i have a friend who is selling me the GT35R(barely used....He blew his tranny)
 
You should hit 350awhp easily. But that turbo will suck without some nice cams. Once I put cams in my car my GT3082r really came alive. And it's basically the same thing as the GT3582r, same A/R, same flow rate, just different turbine wheel.
 
With a great tune, and all supporting mods you will easily hit your mark. I have been looking into this turbo for about 6 months, and I have decided its the one Im going with...but mine will be at 30psi:)

yea i was looking into apr head studs and a metal head gasket....will i be ok with just that? (im not going to be running that high of boost.....20 psi at the very most)
 
and also can someone give me like a "list" of turbo install parts i need to run this...ex. oil lines...ect... cause im kinda a newb when it comes to that stuff
 
gt35 is too big for that low of boost run something closer to a 30r. 35rs dont start working until about 27psi you can easliy make 400awhp on a gt30r. 20psi on a 35r is wayy too much air flow for stock internals to handle too you might run it to some trouble. Maybe look in to a 60-1 too good luck!

How did you come up with that? A good friend of mine is makine 350whp at 16 psi on a SCM61,which is the same compressor wheel as the 35R. The 35R compressor wheel is very efficient in a very wide range. Saying that it doesn't start working until 27 psi is a guess and saying that 20 psi is too much for a stock engine is misinformation.
 
Well if he's talking about a GT3582r then that flows 65 lb/min, my GT3082r flows the same and 20psi was fine on stock internals. But really with the stock 2g tb, stock cams, it really wasnt as fast as it should be. I have HKS 272/272 cams, try looking into a GT3076r, it flows less air and you'll spool earlier. You'll still see good power from that.

I was under the impression he was planning on running a 35r with a t3 exhaust side which is what most come with. Correct me if I am wrong but dont sm61's come with a bolt on mitsu housing? Thats a huge difference in exhaust side size. I've never heard of anyone running a 35r with a t3 exhaust side and stock internals. maybe a 35r thats bolt on. Most compressor maps of the 35r that i've seen show that those turbos work the best at higher boost levels thats why I said the 27 psi. No point in running a large turbo on low boost when a smaller turbo could make just as much power and probably be much more efficient at it.
 
I was told by a SBR rep that these turbo's are happiest at 28psi+, but they do have a very wide range, and 20psi is fine on these, when Jake H. had his 35r, he made 530whp at 22psi...this was with a built stroker of course, but they work at lower boost levels. I would say if you are planning on running stock levels on this sucker its a bad idea, but 20psi will be fine. Also I am not running 30psi, because i was told these turbo's are most efficent from 28psi+, Im runniung that because my motor, and my entire set-up will be able to handle it with no problem.

Can you en-lighten me on this one?:) I figure if the temps aren't high enough to melt the stock cast pistons, and rods, and there isn't knock 20psi will be fine. There is no clear cut awnser to what stock internals can handle since some people can take stock and push high 400s out without a problem, and others can barely push out 50 more then stock without running into trouble, this is where the fine tuning comes into play. Its all in the tune as to what they can take, as every engine is different, and no cookie cutter awnser can apply to the vitals.

35rs flow about 65lb/min now I'm no scientist but you say 35rs work best at say 28psi and well if thats the effiency range they it would be flowing roughing 65lb/min at that psi. Now 20 psi is 71% of 28 and with simple math you get that at 20psi its flowing about 45lb/min. Thats alot of air flow for a stock bottom end! Now whats the point of running a turbo as big as a 35r and only running it at 20 psi if they dont work the best until 28? AND was that on pump gas?

Looks to me like the gt30r is more efficient at high boost than the 35r. And If I'm reading the map right you will have a wider operational range on the 35r at around 18 psi where as the gt30r's broad point is at 26 and a half psi ........
 
Hey, hello everybody. I'm also buying a 35R, and i wanna go for like 400 hp at least, i'm planning on putting ross pistons and eagle rods on my 7 bolt engine. Would that should be enough to handle like 500 or so HP?
I plan on running 20 or 22 PSI daily with pump gas, would that work?

I guess since you are getting this 35r for cheap or something that it is the turbo you def want then? If 400 is all you want and you are looking for something smaller and will spool a little quicker, then get a 50 trim, which will get you to your 400 mark and they are good pump gas turbos too. Now I guess I am partial b/c I have one, but unless you arent getting a great deal and you want something that will spool a heck of alot quicker then get something smaller. Just my $0.02 and humble opinion...:thumb:
