I know a guy that has 4 of the 300 audiobahn comp subs and he had it terrible underpowered and blew them......just like everyone else in MB....i guess they just suck at the beach..

Either that or you guys don't know what you're doing out there. I've installed countless Audiobahn setups and never had a single problem...many of which have been installed for well over a year now. For the money, they can't be beat.

*edit* Need I remind you that "terribly underpowering" a sub is often as damaging as overpowering it at high volumes.

I use to back RF fully, even ran an all RF system myself a few years ago. Needless to say, RF has lost it's edge since they went mainstream.

Not the 2k3 series

believe me...the magnet is as large as the opening for the speaker...literaly like a half an inch smaller than te diameter

the best woofer out there is the solo baric l7 from kicker. All you need is one with a 600+ amp and you will be set. Just wire the speaker wire to the amp on a single channel to push 1ohm. That will have your car bumpin hard

Anyone agree with that? Better than a w7?

So true! But then again, I guess I get credit for this one, since it was briefly mentioned in my post, but then again, that's not the subject of our discussion...

Not so true! If you check the Punch Z serie or the Punch HE serie, the magnets aren't big at all. In fact, they're pretty normal!

When you reach the HE2 or the HX2 serie, we're discussing something else my friend. Now these are loud mother--shut yo' mouth!!!

Check out the new 500.1, 1000.1 and 1500.1 amps too from the 2k3 serie.

I don't agree at all! I have myself a Kicker DX serie amp, but I would never EEEEEEVER (thank you Y2J!) buy a solo-baric sub for one reason: That stupid square shape they gave their subs!!!

Sure it looks really cool and it's original. Even when Bazooka (Worst than Wal-Mart shit... OMG )came out with their triangle subs, Kicker looked cooler. Even with Sony coming out with Pentagon-shaped subs for 2K3 (Yes! Yes! Pentagon!), Kicker will still be the coolest. (By the way, I've been selling Sony for three years... It stinks like crap! Avoid Sony Mobile at all cost!!!)

BUT!!! When you have a round shaped coil that pushes a cone, what shape should that dome be??? Stupid question you say? Well I guess I made my point. A square shaped subs or even a pair of 6x9" will have mechanical distortion at its tips, adding to the distortion already present in the speaker or sub (even if you don't hear it...). That's why if you want to have the most stable sound (loudness ISN'T everything...), you need round shaped speakers ANS subs...

Also, Pito! Since when do amp companies focus on 1 ohm stable amps??? Even Rockford and JBL mostly have 2 ohm stable amps in their whole collection! How much money do you think it costs to get a good reliable, powerful 1 ohm stable amp compared to a 2 ohm amp??? You live in a fantasy land...

Hey Hey dont hate on 6x9......hose subs sound great on alternqative music.,...and decent on rap...not like 10s or whatnot..but i still like em...plus they weigh not too much!1

I would never buy a 1 ohm amp.....and there is a guy with a walled mustang that is hitting 153 with 4 dolo baracs and 4 bd1000

the reason i mentioned the solo baric is because of the fact you can use just one in good box with a decent amp and not come out of your pockets and still get that show performance. The shape of the speaker as you mentioned makes the sound come out more and spread in our hatch dsm's. A rounder speaker will give you punch. You don't have to go 1ohm but if you just want deep loud bass it is a good way to go. By the way i agree sony is crap.

another good way to go is two 10 inch pioneers in a mdf box that you could make yourself. Just have patience and use dynamat were applicable. The pioneers and 400 rms sound good with a 800 watt amp. Good deepbass. Also depends on your box.
Try 4 ports on the top should help. Just remember when you got bass you need better highs than just speakers. Think of a 60 x 4 amp for the inside speakers and angles tweeters in the front. Just my opinion.

i got a 4 channel 125x4 on the way....for my mids and highs.....

and sony does just what it says
Xplod

I'd second Kicker, maybe not the best sub out there...but close for the money. They're affordable and loud. I've seen countless single solo-baric setups hit 145++

Install is the key to any system though, you can have the best equipment out there and still sound like crap.

Does the size of the box effect the bass? Which is the best way to face the box in a DSM up towards the hatch or towards the back or what?

always face a box twords the back, the bass bounces off th hatch to the fron like that...if it was up id bounce around more loosing more power from the subs to the front(not really power...just sound sry). You need to build a ported box prolly to the exact dimensions specified by the airspace required. THis should be found on the Mfg web site or the book that came with them....the diff between sealed and ported..sealed hits harder but takes more power. Ported takes less power and hits a but lower than the sealed.
