I just recentley purchased a small 16g turbo... anyone have any tech articles or does anyone know how to put one on. I know its direct bolt on and all, its just I dont wanna mess up. THX

its a bolt on...take off hold...replace with new and make sure you change all the gaskets and crap...

a turbo is a turbo when its bolt on. Just read the 1g faq on to change a turbo. or u can read the 2g install for a 16g and just ignore the few changes to make it fit. in the end u still take the same things off...heat shields...intake...turbo...oil feeds and blah blah

If your local to me I will be more than happy to help. Right now it seems like it super hard but like everyone has said its just a bolt on take off old one andput on new one.

-First, take your downpipe off and away from the car.
-Drain all your coolant and oil out of the car.
-Unbolt the oil lines and coolant lines
-Then loosen all the nuts off the exhaust manifold
-take off all the nuts to the exhaust manifold (9 i think)
-Disconnect the o2 sensor cable from the harness
-lift the exhaust manifold up and out of the car with the turbo and o2 housing still attached

There you go, fairly simple. Can be done in an hour if you are really quick. Remember to replace the old exhaust manifold gasket with a new oem or a nice aftermarket one ( I prefer felpro). Good luck :thumb:

the 16 G is a TDo4 and installs the same way the 14B installs. Your gonna need a new oil feed line, and the coolant lines get reversed on the TDo4. Other than that your gonna need the The "J" pipe and a LICP...The Tweeker hacker kit from Roadraceengineering.com has everything you should need. Including the instructions.. :dsm:

You got some of your facts right-- for a 2G at least.

1) 16G is a TD05, not TD04-- not an issue during install.
2) It does install just like a 14B.
3) Original poster has a '90, not a 2G so the install kit point, as Joey Tribbiani would say, is moo.
4) No J-pipe or install kit purchase required, nor is it required to swap coolant lines. Not sure if you can reuse the oil line or not but you probably can. You can always buy new washers and stuff if you want. New O2 gasket and turbo-to-manifold gasket are always a good idea.
