Anyone have experience installing carpet??

I bought new carpet for my 2g and I am going to put it in soon. The carpet I ordered is awesome and molded to the floorboards BUT it doesnt come with the needed cutout for bolt holes, center console, door jamb clips etc. So I was wondering if anyone has had anyexperience in installin somethin like this and have any tips to make it easier.

RIp out the old and lay it over, mark it with chalk, put it in, and use an awl to find the hole if you have it in the right spot, etc

That's pretty much what I did. Be careful making cuts for the console. It's always easier to make a tuck or cut after the installation than making the wrong one ahead of time.

Also, it's also a good idea to unpack the replacement carpet a day or two ahead of time and let it lay out.

Measure twice and cut once. Other than that, the guys said everything else. Good Luck.

That is exactly what I did and it worked great. For cutting by the dorrs, on the carpet I got at least, you could see a line where the excess carpet was sticking out of the mold so I just cut along that line and everything went well. How did everyone reattach the plastic clips for holding the carpet down by the door still?

Does it come with the matting underneath too?

I've seen them on ebay for around $80 a few years ago, did your carpet come with new underlay or did you reuse your old underlay?
