Anyone done HID sealed beam conversion on 1g flip up lights?

I am looking at upgrading my headlights for my 1g flip ups and the possibilities are looking grim. Not too many manufacturers out there make lights for my car. Either I can shell out $500 for a Sylvania HID conversion kit (no way I'm doing that) or I can spend $50 on an ebay set like one of these:

Or I can simply go with a super-white set of bulbs. The only bulbs I can find anywhere are for 92-up DSM's. Anyone have a link for 1g bulbs? I'm having trouble finding the right ones on Sylvania's website. There are a number of bulbs listed on their website, including this one:

Are these the right ones? It says they are high-beams...are these low beams as well? I just don't get how headlights work, . Does anyone else make bulbs for the 1g flip-up lights that people would recommend? Or is the H4666ST a good bulb to go with? Thanks!

the 1g flip up headlights are a sealed beam unit (which means you can't just change the bulb, you have to change the entire unit). thats why you can't find and bulbs for a 1ga. hmmmm those ebay setups look interesting.....i might have to check those out a little more myself.

So it looks like a kit is the only way to do it...

I have the conversion kit for my 90, I just change the bulb not the housing, it looks pimp

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of these kits installed one whoever has installed them at this point. I know that Hella offers a kit that MachV sells as well.

No such thing as HID conversion kits for the 1G.

You can however convert to H4 lamps and bulbs.

The ones you from ebay you listed are not HIDs. They're blue halogen bulbs.

You can get the H4 lamps and get a H4 HID kit... but there are two problems: 1) you'll probably put out too much glare for on-coming traffic, and 2) there may not be enough room in the flip up housing for the HID bulb and harness. Finding room to mount the ballasts could be a challange too.

Well, if you have ballasts then they are HIDs. If they are blue bulbs then their just your run of the mill blue light special halogen bulb.

Another way to tell is if you don't have high beams, then they're probably real HIDs. If you have high beams then you have HID wannabe halogen bulbs.

There are bi-xenon HID kits with high and low beams but I doubt you can get those bulbs to fit in the flip-up housings since the base of the bulb is like 2" long.

I dont have highbeams, I allready knew I had H.I.D's tho cause like I said they look just like beamer and jag lights, I do have the Ballasts.

If any1 is interested In what H.I.D's look like on a 1g Ill post pics on sunday or monday.

The true HID kit will give you the best lighting, hands down. If you don't want to spend that much money, but want good lighting but a set of sealed beam replacements, but don't buy hyperwhites or those fake HID type bulbs. They'll only reduce your useful light.
