Any tuning advice??

I'm taking my car to the dyno for the first time next week to get tuned. The tuners specialize in Subarus mostly and I suspect they see very few 1g dsms. I have 750cc fuel injectors, hks cams 264/272, ported & polished head, inverted dome top pistons, opened exhaust 2.5", powder-coated exhaust manifold, 16g turbo (only running stock boost and will not be boosting past stock) (long story), I still have the stock fuel pump.

I do have dsmlink already installed and the software for my car and had my ecu sent out so it can be programmed. I don't have a clue as to what I am talking about when it comes to tuning and I don't want the tuners to miss something they might not know to do with a dsm. I'm all ears for any advice.
 
If I were you, I would do something about that fuel pump before you get on the dyno. Based on your mod list, that's a huge restriction and is going to seriously hold you back. You can do the base tuning yourself to get you running while you install the fuel pump, and then take it back when you're ready to max out the setup. A FP will only cost you about $100 and the stuff to rewire it will run about $25, if I remember correctly.

Other than that, you want to make sure all the normal maintenance is done on the car, such as plugs, wires, leak check, etc. Also, just make sure the shop is familiar with DSMLink before you start letting them tune.



EDIT-> Wait, I just realized that I missed the part about you not wanting to boost past stock and now I'm confused. If that is the case, I would rewire your existing pump and then do the tuning yourself. No reason to spend the money on a dyno session when you clearly aren't trying to max anything out or go crazy on the boost.

I have to ask, why don't you want to start cranking up the boost. You clearly have all the supporting mods to do so????
 
It's a long story. Since I''ve had the car built last year, I've only put on 1400 miles and went through 4 timing belts, four spun rod bearings, scored crank (prior mechanic installed the balance shaft elimination block off bearing wrong (that's why I spun all four bearings)), a blown head gasket, 2 valve cover gaskets, and 3 crank seals. I just got the car back today from a dsm mechanic I met on this forum. He did a boost leak test and found some crap wrong with my pcv and blow-off valve as well as my TB seals. He also put a new timing belt on and a new crank seal and a vc gasket. He did a great job and gave me an awesome deal.

ANYWAY....I don't want to juice the car up until I am confident that it will make it another 1400 miles before blowing again. I do have those cams though so my car runs veeery rich and I need to tune it for the proper A/F ratio from what I'm told. Thanks for the info, I'll definitely do that FP though. 190lph good enough for say 17-20 psi (in case I want to boost it for the future)?
 
Mathematically, a rewired 190lph pump at a base fuel pressure of 43psi is good for 51.70lbs/min airflow at 20psi. Since your running a 1g and your base fuel pressure is lower than that of a 2g, you will be able to support more than 51.70lbs/min airflow.

So, to answer your question, the rewired 190 will be more than enough.
