Fort Smith,
Has anyone here ran a set of Groden Rods in their street car for DAILY use? I'm getting mixed reviews about running them in a daily driver. I want to hear from someone who actually has them currently or has had them in the past. My lat setup was with Eagles and i never had any problems , but this setup is going to entail a LOT more power.

thanks, JP

I talked directly with the manufacturer and they said their rods will be fine for a daily driver. My cousin bought a set for an engine he is building but it's not complete yet so I don't know if the claims are true. Lots of people will tell you that they will stretch but I havent found one person that has actually used a groden aluminum rod in a street application.

yeah , the stretching is what i'd be worried about .

just wondering how much power were you planning to put down?i mean i run eagles...and i dont think i will max them out any time soon...what setup are you going to be running?full t4?if so what turbo?

I had eagles in my last setup and loved em. but im going for over 800+awhp im running a GT42R.

Thats pretty sweet setup you got there. I'm assuming since you are running a bigger turbo than Shep, you're probably looking to be putting down some low 8 second quartermiles :thumb:

It was my understanding that shep was running the 42r this season. He can keep the car close to full weight and run low nines on radials. Sort of like the AMS evo ;)

Skip aluminum rods for a street car. They beat the living hell out of bearings and bolts, and yes they do stretch. Pauter, Cunningham, or Manley rods will all suffice for your motor.

I was under the impression that the rods don't stretch but because of the expansion of aluminum the rod bolts take a beating and they are the things that stretch.

i talked to eagle friday and they said if i Cryoed the rods they should hold the power with NO problems. I'm going to go over this a little more with them at SEMA in vegas next month.

As for the turbo choice , Robert at FP has convinced me to go this route , he's the turbo expert and hasnt ever steered me in the wrong direction.
