This is cool! :thumb: I know we could get atleast 20 people for a track day/BBQ. It will be alot of fun. I cant wait we definitly have to get something together for the spring.

hey Nick I remember the meet we had a couple years ago, not too bad of a turnout, i think i still have my pics. Anyway, to chime in on this issue, I am down for track day/dyno day you name it. I am about 30 mins from Orso, we need to keep this thread alive and get something planned no later than the end of january so we can reserve something if need be. I know when the tracks open for the season it starts getting busy REAL quick.
That wasnt a bad meet at all IMO. Considering alot of the Philly area guys never showed, and it was just us nothern PA guys. This time around we have alot more DSMs around these parts, AND a website in the works. Im sure we can have a meet or two this year.

Ok so I heard back from Tony, the manager of island dragway. He told me that it would be in our best intrest if we simply went on a test and tune night. He said that they would reserve 2 to 4 lanes for us. This would mean that we would be doing random heads up matches. They would only charge us the normal test and tune fee.
Now you guys will make the final decision but here are some things to consider. I can e-mail Beaver Springs and ask to rent the track out for a few hours. As ORSO said previously their rates are like $30 per car for at least 10 cars. It seems that we will definately exceed the 10 car minimum. This would mean that we would have the track totally to ourselves. Say if we get 30 cars to go, this means that if we went to Island Dragway we would have 30 cars plus x amount of other cars (weekend warriors) competing for track time. This will limit the amount of runs we will be able to make. Whereas if we have 30 cars only there will be a better chance in getting a heck of a lot more track time.
My personal opinion would be to contact Beaver Springs and rent the track ourselves. As long as people commit to go we should be fine. We also won't have to worry about only getting 2 runs in before the night is over. With that said I will e-mail Beaver Springs and see what their kind of input they have. As for numidia they never got back to me.

new to the forum this would probably be my first meet, so if I'm welcome, I'll drive wherever I have to.

livefrom215 everyone is welcome, as long as you are willing to drive.

No word from beaver springs, I love how people just don't get back to you when you e-mail them.

yeah just hang in there.. im sure Beaver Bob will get in touch with you sometime.... I think renting beaver springs will be a great time.. i know when i was in high school a bunch of us high school kids got together and rented it twice.. We all had a blast.. I just hope and pray my car works for the meet. :D

Still no word from beaver bob...

If everyone could kind of give me an idea of how many people are actually going to go I would really appreciate it. Only post if you almost positive you will be there... I would like to get a head count of what to expect.

It's hard for me to tell right now on how positive I am on going. Ill have to see what day it's going to be planned for, so I can ask my boss very nicely and possibly bribe him with a ham or something to let me have the day off.

We have no exact date, that is for a few reasons, first and foremost I havent heard about renting beaver springs, I think I will email beaver bob again. Once I hear from him I will be able to get a better idea of when exactly we will be talking about. From there we will have to pick a date and then a rain date.

What's up guys? I know a couple of you...the rest i'd be glad to meet. I live in Clarks Summit. A couple friends and I rented beaver springs last season...a total of 13 of us and it was like $40 a person. Not too bad considering we had the track to ourselves. I'm definietly willing to rent it with you guys if you all want. BUT, it's much cheaper to just go to Island Dragway...on a saturday morning its like $15 and you get anywhere from 8-15 runs in a day...good times. Anyway, the current project should be done by the end of March, so i'll go anytime we can plan something. :dsm:

Like I said I am still waiting on word to come back from Beaver Springs. Neither they or Numidia raceway e-mailed me back with answers to my questions. I'll keep trying.

If you want, I'll call Bob myself and let him know that you sent him an e-mail.

I have to call him anyway, as I scheduled a track rental last season that got rained out, and could never find a new rental date that everyone involved could make.

As far as the question between Numedia and BSD--BSD all the way. Numedia is ran by a bunch of pricks that seemingly hate imports. I lived about 20 minutes away from Numedia, yet we always went to BSD. The tech @ BSD is a lot more relaxed (Numedia will check EVERYTHING on the car, and at the slightest infraction--you don't race), and Bob is a lot more friendly to deal with.

Last time anyone I know went to Numedia, was my younger brother with some friends. It was an NHRA sanctioned race, and he entered his Talon in the Street Class. After his 1st pass of 11.3, they approached him and told him that he would have to run in the open class. Why? Because he was a lot faster than the domestics there in the street class that day, and they claimed that it "wasn't fair to people who didn't have so much money into their cars". This comment was made towards a stock-engined car, and in a beat 90 AWD chassis. I absolutely HATE that track and the people who run it.

Every time I've been there with an import, they've shafted me or given me the run-around. However, it is nice going there and hearing all of the redneck comments. Most notably (about my Galant VR4 years ago)-- "Yeah, I heard he dropped a tree-fitty under the hood".

What e-mail address was the e-mail to Bob sent from? I'll tell him to try to respond to it quickly.

You guys can 99.9% count me in just let me know what final decision is. Oh and Nick let me know when you figure out what you're doin with the website.

If you would be able to contact bob then that would be great. My e-mail address is [email protected] If you would explain to him what we are and what we do here that would be good also. Thanks! :thumb:

Hey, one of my DSM buddies just sent me the link for this thread. I'm so excited!! A NEPA DSMer meet would be really great. I have a small group of dsm friends that I'm sure would be interested in going. I'm up for the track day and I think an afternoon BBQ would be really great so that we could meet everyone in the area.

I've been to Island a few times and I really didn't like it. They are strict about the cars. If you leak one drop of oil, your out. I also agree that we wouldn't be able to get many runs in. It always seems to be crowded and it's in a weird location. Therefore, I'm leaning toward Beaver Spriings.

I've got about 4-5 people in my group that would most likely go. Can't wait for a definite date! Great idea guys! :thumb:

I just spoke to Bob about rescheduling the track rental that got rained out last year, and asked him to respond to your e-mail. He said he should have a response to you today yet.

Sup DSSA! long time no see...

Track day would be great, I know of a few from my area/group that would go. I know the Friday night street is opeing up for March 25th, $20 to run, Ill shoot an email and see what it is for a rental also. Be sweet to have a crap load of dsm's there :thumb:
