any good 420A upgrades?

ok, my friends totally rebuilding his 420a engine from a 2g n/t and i was curious if anybody knows any good engine mods he could do he got eagle rods, je forged pistons, crane cams, and other good internals, but what could he do throttle body wise, and also intake manifolds?? what about custom 420A downpipes for when you slap a turbo on them...thanks !

Ok I have a few friends with that motor. One in a Neon R/T, And 2 others with Eclipses. For the throttle bodies we went to BullFrog in Lake Elsinore California..Also known as Gude...They bored thier TB's out for them...As far as Turdo'g the 420 well everything I have researched shows it to be a nurve racking, and non-smogable headache(See VFAQ). All of our comp 420 cars run in the 13's. And to be honest we run the basics. CAI, Headers, and 2 1/4 exhausts. However, We run AEM Fuel Rails, FPR's, and upgraded fuel pumps, AEM adjustable Cam Gears, and a set of Comp Cams. I ported and polished the heads. Then a 75 wet NX shot of Nitrous performs the "chemical Forced Induction" if you will. Its hard to extract a significant amount of horsepower out of this motor. Especially when you compare it to its turbo'd cousin. But we are having some success with it. Either way Nitrous or Turbo your gonna need a lot of Dyno time to get things on the right foot. But it is very doable. Also, consider a Stage II clutch, and Phantom Grip LSD. As far as intake manifolds go there is a place here in hemet that made one for our Neon R/T. It is basically a sheet metal intake mani and it ran about $400.00...Just info though..The Eclipse with the exact same mods exept for the intake manifold is .3 faster in the 1320. 13.2 to a 13.59. So cost effectiveness is questionable. Hope this helps..Any more questions please PM me.

hey moron, i have a 4g63 i'm asking for a friend, thanks alot for the resonses you guys gave and thanks alot larry you helped out alot, i was guessing turbo 420a would be a bi*** and you proved me right...any trouble spots that you know of to watch for when installing turbo on it...the car is actually a 1997 dodge avenger 5sp manual that came with a 420a, and has a HUGE engine bay so thats to our benefit, anyways thanks alot and post away whatever else info you can get, as for ryan you are a complete idiot and should not be in these forums

Well vfaq has a write up on this. Since I've never done it before I can't give any first hand knowledge on a turbo'd 420 project...I know it is been done before so if you follow vfaq you should be fine. Good luck. If you need anything else feel free to PM me.

Acutally since you want to bring it up you were suspended because.

1. Posting the same thread twice in the same forum is a waste and against the rules

2. Calling a moderator or any other member an "asshole" in the open forums is obviously against the rules.
