Before I bought my DSM I bought a '89 Montero for the Mom's Taxi. That's when the Dealer turned me onto the fact the Eclipse was coming. The Montero is long gone but the Eclipse is still here. Over the years I've bought 3 Stealths, a 91 ES, and 94 RT, and the 92 RT/TT keeping the jackstands from wondering off in the garage. The other two were for my kids and they consumed them like young drivers often do.

My first mitsu was a new 87 mighty max truck. I became familiar with the sirius motors. I lusted after the dsm when it was released. On the cover of every magazine. Bought my first 90 awd tsi in 92.

My fascination with DSMs didnt start til the 1g and I didnt find out about any of these predecessors for another decade when I went to my first car meet...Back when Chicago use to have the huge 3 prong, 100+ car cruises back in like '03. One of the first guys that i met had a black Conquest that looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Watched him torch this Camaro through the first 2 gears, half sideways, before he hooked up and was gone. Ive never owned one myself, but I love seeing a nicely built Starion/Conquest because its directly tied to my first night of being part of the DSM community.

All jokes aside I would love a StarQuest. 4G64 swapped with some kind of strong manual. T-56 swap maybe. Would love it.


I wouldn’t mind an 80’s two door Montero with the same thing. 4G64T, manual 4WD of some kind. We had an 88 Montero 2 door 5-speed before I had a dsm and I loved that thing. Gutless and slow, but loved it.

Ours was a 4 door 6G72 AT but it was a great alternative to the most popular Mom mobile of the time a Dodge Caravan. I likes the boxy styling vs the blob SUV they turned into.

Nice. Ours had the SOHC 4 cylinder. I don't think it was a 4G64, I think it might've been a G64B or something like that. Carb'd and everything. It was a beast in the snow too, mechanical 4WD that you could engage or disengage.


Good times. I want another one but they're super rare now. An automatic version popped up here local to me a few months back and they wanted $20k for it. .

I've got an 89 mighty max with a 4g63T swap and a 91 montero with a turbo LS swap. Also down to 1 89 plymouth colt with a 4g63 awd swap. A conquest is one of the last of the 80s/early 90s mitsubishis I need to add to the collection, just waiting for the right one to pop up

I've owned this car now nearly 17 years. My dad owned it longer than that. I'd have to ask him how long he had two arrow GTs this one and a fire arrow. He said they were great Derby cars after this one got wrecked. I bought a 91 eclipse then a 99 eclipse and then the ,93 stealth

I had one of these 1985 Mirage Turbo bad boys way back when, except it was gray and black, this was older brother of the 1989 colt that became famous in our world with a 4g63 swap. If memory serves me it was a 4G32. You can check out the Specs here . I have read stories about how people miss certain cars that they sold etc and for some odd reason this is the one for me, if I could find another I would love to have one again, Unfortunately age and weather forced me to get rid of it. Especially knowing now what my 18 Year Old self didn't know back then.

Oh man. Did I want this car in 1985. Ended up with a Hyundai excel. Sadly that excel could've been 4g63 swapped too. Also had a new 1987 mighty max. I should've bought 2. Damn truck wouldn't die. 13 yes, unknown miles 200k??
