Another Tranny prob. How do I fix it????

Ok I heard a clunkin noise in my tranny which I thought was the Throw out bearing well I drove it a day or too b/c I had no other choice and I took out the tranny tonight and the shaft the Throw Out Bearing rides on broke off right flush with the transmission. So my question is how do I fix it? and whats it called exactly? And if I take the transmission apart too fix it what all's gonna fly out at me?

If My Memory Serves Me Right, Then I Don't Think That Can Be Removed. I Haven't Had To Crack Open My Transfer Case For A While, Though.

Have You Looked Into Just Getting A New "used" Tranny?

Another question if I take teh bell housing off my transmission is anything gunna come flyin out? or is it all in their pretty good that it wont come out if I take it apart?

As far as teh used tranny goes, I just spun over 700.00 on a AT/MT swap and I'm runnin very very low on money.

Sorry about the mis-representation of my tranny, not transer case.

As far as you should be conserned about "flying out at you," pretty much everything you have showing on your thread.

If you are talking about that piece that the TO bearing rides on you are chit out of luck because its cast to the transmission case. You could try and have it welded on.

Yes thats what I'm talking about Storm. So more less what your saying is only way too fix it other than welding it is a new tranny? what about the bell housing, Could I change it? or can that not be done?

And to be honest with ya I dont think it's worth welding b/c the part that broke off is all messed up,looks like the TO welded too it or something along them lines. had too practically beat the TO bearing off the shaft that broke.

Sorry friend. Cant swap the bell housings on these gearboxes because they are really more than a bell housing.

so more less it's either weld it or get a different transmission? I have talked too a couple ppl and they say swapping bell housing can be done. I'm not saying your not right but I need too figure out what too do b/c I just spun a lil more than I should have on a AT/MT swap and dont really got the extra money too buy a new trans. But if I have to then I have too. It is FWD.

Thanks for the info you mighta just saved me some money I spun for nothing b/c I was planning on buyin a diff bell housing for 150.00.

Dont get me wrong, it can be done. You will practically be swapping all the guts from one to the other. ALot of work to be done I can assure you of that. If you do decide to go ahead with it, get familiar with the tranny rebuild VFAQ's.

Well I'm lookin into it but it's lookin like alot of work from my point of view but then again 150 alot better than 350.
