Cajon Speedway bites the dust. San Diego is America's finest city of idiots :barf: . First they closed Carlsbad Drag strip and now Cajon Speedway. They talked about doing a full on track in Otay Mesa close to the Mexican border but the hoops the environmentalist are making them jump threw is making that a fading dream. Then the developers buy up the property for housing which makes any track out of the question because of the noise moratorium. :barf: Oh yeah, the mayor quit right after he helped put the city in debt over a billion dollars WTF

WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP!!!!

Sorry to hear that guys. Sucks that one of the few states with pleasureable weather year round and amazing scenery is also filled with a bunch of prick politicians.

You could always move to the midwest, we have corn and cold winters, and plenty of drag strips!

Having spent 4 years on the shortgrass prairies of the Midwest courtesy of Uncle Sam, I will take California any day...! :)

Don't get me wrong. Great people and absolutely mad racing, but the weather just killed me. As I wrote (yes, this was pre-internet) to my brother after the first winter, "I just spent a decade here this winter..." ROFL

But all the news is not bad, Greg. I have a friend who is the noise abatement consultant to Otay, and just last week the County Board voted 4-0 in favor of approving the project. I know it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings, but this was a big hurdle. Ya gotta protect them spotted scorpions, ya know...?

I think that was for the temp dirt track for off road trucks in Chula Vista. Wait until they run their first race and all the cry baby's start screaming it's too loud. And of course you love where you live, you're surrounded by some of the best tracks in the world, but it's a twelve hour trek for me to get up there :toobad:

You could be right about Otay, Greg. I thought my friend said that it was going to be a full service motorsports park eventually, but I could be confusing it with somewhere else.

But you are definitely right about me being spoilt living in the center of plenty! :D

Within an hour's driver there are two quarter mile drag strips for those with short attention spans, not to mention the FOUR world-class road racing facilities within a few hours. Woo hoo!!! :thumb:

The Otay project was/is suppose to be another Calif Speedway type facility, with road course and 1/4 mile track. The place would be packed for every event however small with Mexico next door. Those people are passionate about car racing. TCRA car club just did a Tijuana Grand Prix in June and there was something like 50,000 spectators that showed up for a club race. How cool is that?
