So one of our project cars is a white 90 tsi. Car ran good and was purcahsed for 400 dollars, bone stock minus a muffler we put on to replace the shot stock one, 90xxx miles, and no real rust.

My friend was driving it the other day, got on it hard, and boom! It stalled, would not turn over, etc. etc.

We get it back home and pull the head, and find the most disturbing pistons i have ever seen.

The fourth piston (not pictured) cracked in half. literally, it fell apart upon removal.

The car is now being parted out, but i couldnt believe the damage!

One piston has a chunk rattling around in it, and a valve was actually embedded in # 3 piston

The car was all stock and 90xxx miles, so this goes to show how maintenance (TIMING BELTS PEOPLE!!) can save your car, no matter how modded/beat on!

That was the original timing belt on there from the factory?

I know people say 60k for timing belt, I think around 45k should be tops. I seen cars with 20k on the belts and the belt was already looking a little dry and flaky. As for time, timing belt every 3 years if driven daily. Dont want any nasty surprises like this.

That's nasty. Why not keep it and build it if it's so clean?

Also, you said it's a Talon. Eclipse GSX badges? Aren't those Laser tails? Lol.

The damage looks incredible. I recently bought a car in the same predicament as yours, I'll be sure to clean it up real good before any mods.

Oil changes at 2,500 to 3,000 miles are a must. I just pulled the oil pan for the first time on my '95 GSX this week. The car has 115,000 miles on it and numerous track days. It was spotless - like new. Absolutely no sludge or deposits. I've used Mobil One since I bought the car new.

well first of all, i misworded (drunk last night i apologize :D )

it was a 90 gsx, and theyre just laser tails we pulled off the other 1ga TALON we have. the 1ga talon came with laser tails and it had a hole in the block, so thats the car were building as a project.

And no, the gsx did not get maintenance done because its not my car, just one of my buddies. i warned him!
