Another question about 6 bolt swap

So I am just about done with everything and about to drop engine in but my question is I have read that you have to use the 2g starter plate but I don't know why because I held the 2g one up to the 1g one and they look the same??

Use the plate that matches the transmission. 2g trans use 2g starter plate, 1g trans 1g plate. The bolt holes are slightly off.
