Well on way home from work today when i put my car into 2nd gear and my shifter was real wobbly still like it was in nuetral. Didn't think much of it until i came to a stop let out my clutch in neutral and car stalled. I could not get the car out of gear, but the shifter was moving all around. I instantly thought it was the shifter assembly because i have had problems with it in the passed. When i looked under the hood and had someone move the shifter and the linkages were moving. Then i was like ok lets get the car out of the way from other cars. Pushed in the clutch to move the car, and it was still stuck like it was still in gear. So i looked under the car to see in the slave was moving as the clutch was being pressed and it was. Had 2 mechanics say possibly the transmisssion siezed. What do you guys think? Anyone have this problem before and it was something stupid? I just recently within passed couple months put new clutch and pressureplate in the car. Thanks guys. And god it was so scary watching the guy drag the car up the rollback with at winch

Have you tried shifting the levers directly on the trannsmission to get the car into neutral?

If you go underhood, disconnect the shift cables from the shift arms on the transmission. Then try and shift the transmission using the levers underhood. Can you get into nuetral?

I'm not clear if this is a clutch problem or a linkage issue.

When you push the clutch in will the car roll?

When i push the clutch in the car does not move. Thats why i'm coming to the conclusion that its a tranny issue. Hopefully though that is not the case. I was thinking linkage issues too. But when my buddy was moving the shifter it was moving both linkages side to side and front to back. Maybe something in the shifting assembly gave way causing the linkages not to move enough? But why would the car not move when i push in the clutch? Thanks guys for the help. Anyone else?

Now that I understand the situation a little clearer. I would bet the problem is internal inside the transmission, like the other mechanics suggested, something like a broken shaft rail or fork. The shifter being loose is an indication something let go inside the trans if the linkages are good.

You almost certainly broke a shift fork, or one of the pins came out of the linkage inside the transmission. The parts shouldn't be that much to fix it, and you lucked out that it happened while you were stopped. The reason being, you have more than one gear engaged at the same time. If you had been going 50, parts would have been flying out from under the car. The bad news: You have to pull the transmission out and take it apart to fix it. If you aren't up to the job, you could send it to TRE or someone to fix it for you. Or I could do it for you, I might be a little closer. If you do feel up to it, I can find you a link to the service manual.

Its at my uncles shop, ill let him know what you guys are saying. I have a lifetime warranty on the clutch i bought so while its out ill just got a new one of them too. The stuck it 2 gears sounds about right because even if the car is stuck in 5th shouldn't the car logicly roll a little with the right amount of reving and clutch slip? The car would not move whatsoever. But what about when i push the clutch in and its still in gear?

If you let off the clutch, the engine should just stall. When it's in two gears at once the tranny won't turn at all unless you break teeth off the gears.
