It is red in color and comes from the passenger side of the vehicle. It was there ever since I bought the car.

Does anybody know what it for or where it should be?

Yeah, something aftermarket. That's what I thought too but what could it possible be? I dont' think it was an amp.

My guess is its a power wire for a non-existant amp, it likely went through that boot thats just up behind the heater core box. The previous owner prob just cut the wire and pushed it out of the engine bay.

why does that look nothing like "red" ?
anywho- is it just 1 thick wire ? (4awg) as everyone else said
its prob from a old amp install.

Looks like it was taking at night with a camcorder on a night mode.

My vote is the same as everyone elses.

I'm sure that when you pull on it, it won't come, otherwise the previous owner would have taken it out. Like everyone else said, wire for the amp. check to see if it's grounded back there. Somewhere under the trunk carpeting.
