I'm gettin power and ground to the pump but it's still not turning on. What I was wondering was concerning the mpi relay. If it makes those clicking noises when I turn the car on and off, could it still be possible that it's bad. Or, is my problem defintly elsewhere.

Would the next plausible assumption be the ecu?

90 AWD eclipse

thanks for any help

p.s. all fuses and actual pump have been checked

rewired pump?

no, this is a completly stock car:

I said that I had power to the pump but I had just checked power at the pump with a test light so, I'm not sure that it's getting a full 12v.

After I thought about it a little, I remembered the light from the test light was kind of dim so it may be that it's not getting enough juice to kick on the pump.

A friend is coming over to check voltage with a meter so I'll post the results later.

It seems this is a fairly common problem (fuel pump not kicking on) with many different causes (mpi relay, faulty wiring, bad ecu). Hopefully mine is just faulty wiring. If you've had this problem and feel like it, go ahead and post your cause and solution.

This car had been sitting for about 3 years. I bought it for $400.00 and found it only had a burnt valve. But after 3 years of sitting it seems some other problems arose. Hopefully this will be the last one. :dsm: :thumb:

Ok, after alot of checking we went back to the pump itself. This is a pump that I had taken out of my laser that has an upgraded pump and i had checked it again prior to putting it in the eclipse so, we checked it again at the pump side plug. The pump did not kick on. So I took the assembly back out. Long story short, the problem was somewhere in the connections on the assy because the pump was still good.

We took the ground off of the assy at the top and cleaned up the connection. Tried again and bam, power to the pump. Put it back in and cranked her up I've probably have a grand in the car so it was a real nice sound to hear it running. Now I have a running awd turbo car woohooo.

Hope this helps someone else down the line.
