Another Compression question.

Hey i've got another compression question.
I see for the 420A there are 10.5:1 or 12:1

I know with the 10.5:1 you can still run 92 octain pump gas.
But with the 12:1 does that force you to run race fuel?

You can run 92 octane or higher with 12:1 compression. There are some cars on the road that are very close to that and run 91 octane fuel.

12 to 1 is pretty high for the current fuel market. You may find yourself using additives to improve the octane. It's attainable but with a price to be paid.

if you plan on boosting i reccomend you stay away from he higher compression pistons. you can run 12:1 on 92 or 93 but there are not to manny people making a real fast all motor 420a.
i know you didn't ask but since i awnsered your question i will give you my 2 cents.
if you have the cash to rebuild your motor with high compression pistons why not put in some 8:1 pistons and turbo that blitz ff eclipse.

I agree 12.1 and turbo would be bad.
I'm trying to learn as much as i can.

I want to go turbo.
But i don't have the cash to pay someone to build my motor and i don't know if i'm brave enough to replace the rods.
Or can i get away with going with just lower comp pistons and leaving the stock rods in if i'm going to be running oh lets say 10lb of boost.
