So today, just driving around i started to hear this noise, whenever i would accelerate i heard this noise. The car wouldnt build any boost either, so i was sure it was a boost leak, on another occasion this happened, so i get home and planned on changing my oil as well, i got the BLT test out and look at my turbo and this is what i find.

Well, i wanted to get a 16g just not this soon, i was hoping to wait till summer.... will it be ok to drive this for a couple days till i get the new one? This is my only car and i have work and college, only 10 miles of driving is all i need to do...

So today the install went very easy of course...car started up little rough......well after i let it sit for 20 mins or so and she was nice and warm i go to take a small drive. Its running really bad and rough, cant even give it gas. I didnt even make it out of my subdivison. I turn around pull in my driveway, let the car sit and then i see some smoke from the bottom. The cat is glowing red, so i think this is why my 14b blew, i think my cat is clogged and it killd the turbo due to overheating. (So it wasnt the oil...and Lonewolf the 14b was the only turbo i "blew.")

throwing any cel's? cant really see a clogged cat destroying a 14b....although I can see a bad state of tune causing to turbine housing to get extremely overheated thereby ruining the center section. Jumping time would also cause the turbo to recieve too much unburnt fuel igniting it inside the manny and turbine housing.

I was just gonna say something about jumping time. Thats what I would look into anyways.

I would start checking compression and timing marks.
If all ok then move on and inspect plugs and wires while making sure that there's proper spark to all cylinders. Next would be checking if all injectors are firing properly and not stuck open.

A glowing exhaust manifold and/or catalytic converter is a sign of late ignition timing and extremely rich condition. The converter glowing doesn't necessarily mean its plugged. If core temperature reaches operating point it will ignite any unburned fuel that was not burned in the initial combustion that took place.

Anyways, all that unburned fuel acted like an anti-lag and probably burned in the turbo housing and catalytic ( hence why i say late timing ) and i think thats what did your turbo in.

Good luck
Remember...

Compresion Test, Check Timing, Fueling and then State of tune and go from there...
Jumping to conclusion doesn't solve problems, but waste money !!!

BTW checking the Catalytic is easy. Just unbolt it and run the car without it and see if it makes a difference

Thnx, how would i go about fixing my timing though? Oh and this anti-lag you speak of...the car kept "popping" it would idle fine at 750rpms, but soon as its in drive it would bounce, then if i gave it gas it would just keep popping and it would accelerate really slow.

UPDATE! So its always the easiest things that can screw up a car. When i primed the turbo i accidentally switch to of the spark plug wires in the coil pack. Flipped em around and things seemed 10x better. I was only able to let the car idle ### i thought of this at 130AM haha. Also i have my downpipe off so i didn't want to go drive it and wake my whole subdivision (which includes 70% retired folks) So im sure my problem is solved, and you think this is why my cat got red?
